Not sure if this will be used a lot, but connecting with outlook might be a good idea!

Sometimes you just need to send a quick, short note to your co-worker. Of course, you can use Outlook for this, but today we’re launching a new app through the Microsoft Garage that is built specifically for those brief, snappy communications—Send, designed for in-and-out email.

It's funny that it's for the iPhone before the windows phone.

That's always how it is. The Windows Phone just isn't a serious business platform yet. Coming out for that first would not actually make much sense.

Agreed, as I still hold on to my Windows Phone tightly as I can...I simply prefer the experience of it...

I bought the new 640 XL - It's been a good phone - no lockups, the battery lasts for two days of normal full use, etc.

As for the OP - Send... That does look pretty cool! allows for secure fast quick communications. To bad I don't have O365 to test it with.

It would also be nice to see it blend with a text messaging app so those users who use O365 go through that, and the rest would go through normal texting. Think iPhone messaging - if both parties are on iPhones, then the message is sent completely through Apple's system, otherwise it's sent through normal texting.

Installed here and a few NTG'ers will be as we'll see how it goes.

I sent this out to our sales managers to see if it has value. There are a few people without iOS devices so they may not see it.

We have installed it here and are playing with it. First impressions: so yeah it sends instant messages that I have already gotten on my phone to my inbox, well that's sorta cool so that I can search things later, but it's only the what you have received side of the conversation.
This is just one more IM app to deal with. If it ties in with something else that might make it better. I just want Skype for Business to be stable and so far it's still a no go. Because SfB will send to your email as well (or at least your conversation history does) so that (when working) already does the same thing.

For a first release (that I know of) it's not bad. But as @Minion-Queen stated, it's just another IM tool.

There were I few things I noted while starting it up.

The login screen could use some work. took me a moment to find were to poke it to enter my UserID.
Screen orientation to allow for rotate, I can type a be easier in landscape mode.

I already have AOL IM, Google Talk and Hand outs, Skype, and Skype for business; not to mention Text and Google Voice...

What is the value here? Time will tell.

While it's just another IM client - does it
                                a) use the encryption of O365?
                                b) Danielle mentioned that it only shows (in email) what you received, it doesn't show what you sent? i.e. the whole text conversation? Also are each message it's own email, so if you're not viewing email in conversation view you have to look at each message individually?

I am not sure about a. But each message you receive is an individual email and not the whole conversation just the received part.

OK that makes it nearly useless! it's bad enough that they are each a separate email, but since it does not include your part of the conversation, how are you suppose to follow it when you read it later inside email?

It's pretty well useless but might be a good starting point for something useful. Or at least I hope so

This supports my "there is no reason to be using text" rants 🙂

Nope, it's both. Don't limit your search to only the received folder. Works like any IM to email system like this. I've got both sides of the conversation in my email.
