@scottalanmiller We haven't been since we have been back home (and Michael is done with school). I think this summer would be fun to visit again (hint hint)

@Bill-Kindle We have friends who do just that. It has been fun doing the syrup the old fashioned way with them a few times. And making maple sugar and snow candy yummy!

Based on my Research Maple tree is not likely to grow here in our country.
but in our Province we are making Sugarcane syrup.

@Joyfano Nope, and even if they did, you only get to make maple syrup when the sap is running, and a freeze and thaw cycle is necessary for that to happen. Cane syrup is similar, but maple syrup has a distinct flavor that's hard to describe if you've never had the real deal.

Maple needs to freeze. They are a key tree here. Very common.

I am waiting on getting some here. They just started making syrup here in the last week or so. If I wait a little bit it will be richer in taste (the first sap is a little light for me).

I just realized that you can make out the Johnny Walker Platinum behind the syrup.

I have no idea how to describe it. Maple syrup is a "reference taste" that you use to describe other things. Never had to explain it to someone who had never had it before.

Maple is a pretty major flavoring here. Lots of things have real or fake maple syrup flavor and a lot of things have maple smoked flavor (cooked with maple wood). Maple is also popular for furniture and cabinetry.

A gallon of maple syrup! Wow! How much did that set you back? How long will it last? It's about eight bucks for a very small bottle here in the UK - generally Canadian. Is Canadian better than American? It's generally too expensive for me to justify, so we stick with the classic, and considerably inferior, Lyle's Golden Syrup instead.

Canadian and American are the same. The US makes it in NY and Vermont and Canada makes it in Quebec. If you check a map, that is one region just split by a river. So it is a single area just with a border through the middle of it 🙂
