friday morning 9:15am, dull and quite uninspiring
and so is the weather.

Just got my once every 6 month CloudAtCost email. Somehow it always bypasses my spam filtering
I know that experience.
They were told specifically to cancel my account and delete it (I wasn't subscribed to any of their spam lists at the time either). All was good for several months, and then HELLO! the spam started arriving.
Unsubscribing does nothing, you have to login/change your preferences and completely change eveything in the account.
Use a random password generator for the email address...
Are they any good, their prices look cheap, what's the catch, apart from only having a CA based datacentre (long way from Oz).

Run. Run far, far, far, away. Then, when you think you've run far enough, run the same distance two or three more times.

Are they one of those places that speak with you beforehand and are just great, but once they have your money just seem to vapourise? -

A lot of us had problems with them trying to change the terms on us after we'd signed up for their "For Life" plan... then they try to sneak in and start billing you after the fact, and the service itself was... meh. I didn't have a heavy load on it, so I don't really know about performance.

Entire thing is a scam in every sense. For a time, it was the top topic on the community. They were really active here. It's not a production system, their prices are fake, the performance is unusable, it's like Liquid Nitrogen Overclocking.... entire thing was a scam top to bottom. Parent company tried to disavow them as it was that bad that it destroyed their reputation, too.

I wouldn't call it a "data center", pretty sure it's like whitebox desktops in a garage. It's definitely nothing running on servers.

oh gee. I spent about 45 seconds looking at the list and a quick read, dodgey as all get out by the look of it.

Yeah, that's putting it nicely.

so i'm fiddling around with a ubuntu build on vultr, i'm no linux person.
I run up a simple machine, reset root password. logout & log back in using the new password, so i've confirmed the password is ok.
install lubuntu desktop coz I want a gui.
reboot, but I can longer log in, says password is incorrect. Tried this at least 4 times, meaning i've nuked the vm and started from scratch 4 times.
wednesday thursday friday (wtf).
what am i missing???
-
I bet you will find that the cli password still works. Its likely a GUI issue.

At one of our sites re-cabling the Unifi AP's, Also upgrading them to AC-LR's
why recabling?
Because we have no idea who cabled some of the cat5 stuff and the Access Points keep going offline.
So thought Re-cable new access points, then all should be good. -
Just heard the kids school went into full lockdown few hours ago, someone's been arrested. Something they posted on facebook about killing some "school kid"

What @scottalanmiller said. Hit Ctrl+Alt+F(1-8) to get a command prompt and try logging in there.

Ready for a rough week to come to and end.

Asked another team to open a ticket rather than email for DNS changes.

GoPro Hero 9 arriving tomorrow!

Ugh, this computer replacement took about 3 hours to long thanks to snowflake government software.

Is that the software used by the princess from Frozen?
