Yeah they're spendy but for an expected 10yr+ service life... meh?

Plus, extra reasons to run 10gbit through the building is a win in my book

Just hoping someone had tried them already and could relate just how far up to 11 they go

Does that require fiber because of distance?

An AP that requires a 10Gb uplink port? That is sexy.

Party pooper time, do you *really * need wireless with that density and throughput?

Today? Maybe not. In 2021? Possibly.

Once I have a 12k display and gigabit fiber at home...

You don't have gig fiber at home?

The 12K display I can't even ask about as Apple is just now pushing a 6k.

This is more thinking about 2031

So the question is: super sexy top of the line AP VS middle range AP and shorter lifecycle

Environment is a high end laboratory, gym, doctors office & admin area. This building will produce cutting edge research and is staffed with more Docs and PHDs than you can shake a stick at.

Wifi 6 is just around the corner. By the time the mid-range ones age out you'll be to move to the next technology.

Not sure about Unifi. Our vendor is going to be sending us a demo unit Q1 for their stuff... not that we have any clients to use with it yet.

Then why even talk about it now? Tech moves so fast who knows what could change?

@Dashrender if you don't like to talk about speeds and feeds, you do not have to participate. For the rest of us though....

It's one thing to discuss it - it's another to discuss buying deploying. the deploying is a business decision and should run through the math based process to determine the purchase timeframe.

That's not true. Infrastructure hardware is years in development.
