@Dashrender Main reason is i want to test, Apps, Servers OS, Logging, Security, Pen Testing, stuff easily between all the VM in a isolated "Lab"
Have just found a HP Server for £150 (2x Xeon Hex Core, 128GB RAM )
The problem with any server class machine will be the noise of the fans.
-
@Dashrender I've got a server room to hide it in

Wondering if this would make an OK(ish) Lab server.
Sure - but why have your own box? why not just spin up some Vultr instances?
Because he's like me, and wants to run about 50 different things, which adds up quicker than you'd think.
@hobbit666 That looks like an ok home lab box. I recently picked up a used server for a home lab myself. Mine is an R620, 2x E5-2660, 96GB RAM (24x4GB) PERC H710. I picked up 4 500GB SSD to put in it. It's frankly overkill for what I'm doing and have planned for it, but that just means I can experiment with more things. I say go for it.

@travisdh1 Spot on
I've been looking into Elsatic Stack, Cyber Security, Pen Testing etc etc. Doing this on a laptop/desktop soon bombs out.
Don't want to do this on works network incaseSo i thought buy a "Lab" Server and do what i want

Those guys are crooks. Got them to say that they wouldn't take any action, even when they'd received paperwork from the people filing the false bill that it was false! They knew that it was fraud, and just hung up once they realized I knew.

You mean they called out of the blue, saying you owed them money, and as soon as you called them out they just hung up.
Like people who send faxes for bills due for services not rendered or requested.

No, they have a doctor's office that made up a charge. They are owned or operate on behalf of the doctor's office. The doctor's office provided the paperwork that showed we owed nothing, but neither the doctor's office nor the debt collector care that they have that paperwork and want money anyway.

My wife had visited a doctor's office in Houston who uses this collection agency to run their scams.
-
Filing with the FTC Consumer Finance scam reporting agency right now.
-
It is likely a standard scam that they run against insurance companies that most people don't notice because insurance just pays it. But since we paid in full to an agreed upon amount at the time of the event, and then left the country, we were acutely aware that it was a scam as there was no option for further charges.

There is always the option to just give them more money for no reason!
