Nothing says this was the cause of the false alarm... (not that I've seen anyways).

No, but it means that they aren't even attempting to do a good job.

another article just released.. Guy suffered a massive heart attack partially due to this (this just put the icing on the cake, as he obviously had major existing issues, but thats not the point).. http://www.staradvertiser.com/2018/01/16/hawaii-news/man-suffers-massive-heart-attack-during-false-alert/?HSA=915729240c36384917f27b088eea67a352459406

911 was flooded with over 5000 calls during that time..

Red Herring here. Just because the timing of his heart attack coincided with this alert doesn't mean the alert caused the heart attack.

It could've been years of eating unhealthy with a lack of exercise and smoking.

(read very quickly by one of those ad guys you hear on the radio)

this reply brought to you the trademarked phrase "red herring". red herring is a trademarked phrase of the scott alan miller corporation, all rights reserved, do not try this at home, may cause loss of erection

Am I wrong? I mean, eat like crap for 40 years and then expecting your heart to not explode is like expecting to win the lottery when you never buy tickets.

Yeah, but it's so much easier and feels better for them to blame the false alarm... maybe even get some money out of it... (to buy more junk food I assume)

This is an example of a horrible user interface. Make large color coded buttons at opposite sides of the screen, so there is no way that this could ever happen again. Example: Green or yellow for a drill, and RED for an actual emergency.

Now that I think about it though, I guess that would be bad if your operator is colorblind....

There are simple solutions to this as well though, color blind monitor settings, plain verbiage etc.

I guess there's no need for a translation.
A "Ritsch + Renn" classic that I've first seen in a very popular German IT magazine, back in 2001 or so I think.
