How does your company make email address?
-
Back in the 90's when I first got email, the company used FI Lastname all pushed together.
I've seen a trend over the last five years to try to just use firstnames or firstname LI.
I'm curious what you guys are seeing?

We do [email protected]. For [insert nonsense reason here] we also make an alias to each mailbox with [email protected].

first initial + last name is standard because for most companies (ie SMB is most), it is generally unique.
Name only is like a vanity add on. Just make an alias if the user wants it and management approves.
First names are not unique enough. What do you do when Bob Smith quits after 20 years and then in a year you hire Bob Jones? All of Bob Smiths SPAM that was harvested over 20 years suddenly starts flowing in again because [email protected] is suddenly taking email again.

[email protected] is great and even more unique the [email protected]

@jaredbusch Yeah, those are fine.
-
Everyone gets [email protected]. If they want to deviate from that they have to run it past their supervisor.

[email protected] is the standard, plus aliases of both just [email protected] and [email protected], depending on the user.

We have a mixed since the company has been in business for 20 years.

I've had that happen in finance and it was a disaster.

Yes, it is and even though I enforce it to have it the pattern we want people complain.
