Softphone would be a great solution though, since all of the people have their own laptops.

Okay, that would do it.

I think what I'll do, is have the physical phone there, configure it as needed. Install Linphone (or the like), show them how to use it. And let them discover on their own how the softphone is the way to go. That'll give me user feedback that I can leverage for saying "let's just let them use the softphone, and this IP phone can be given to someone else / become a spare we keep around in case of failure."

I was kinda expecting the sales monkeys to each have their own device that could have a softphone on it, even if it was a SmartPhone.
In fact, moving to smartphone apps and no phone might actually be the best solution of all. I guess it would depend upon how much data they use while not in the office.

Not really. They don't work as good as one might hope. It is usually easier for the sales person to jsut call with their mobile. everyone is expected to have one anyway.

Yeah, not that comparing to Altigen is ever valid, but the MaxMobile app is "meh" at best.

Zoiper is just finicky at the best of times, and for whatever reason I've had no luck when on LTE instead of WiFi with it.

I use it regularly on LTE with little problem unless I am driving down 55.
