UrBackup vs Veeam

So I know we've discussed UrBackup before, but I don't think we've ever done a comparison between the two in terms of whole sale systems.
If we were comparing any combination of the two, paid vs paid, free vs free, paid vs free or free vs paid would you pick Veeam over UrBackup?
Comparing the two feature sets UrBackup has everything that Veeam has (AFAICT), both are developed actively. So is there a reason to pay for Veeam or UrBackup?
Paging @scottalanmiller and @JaredBusch as these are the two most prominent people on the forums who like to discuss these kinds of points.

Would the combination of the client and server with UrBackup be a close approximation to how you can target Veeam B&R using Veeam Endpoint Backup on the client?

You obviously have not tried Veeam or toyed with it in Home Lab.
Veeam is better in everything.
Dont get me started on Urbackup interface and settings that most of them needs research before toggling on/off, or the only way to understand them is toggling them and see and sometimes still you dont understand what you made. Documentation for Urbackup setting is not very easy to learn or understand. If you dont believe me show us your setting page one by one and we will discuss.
Reporting in Veeam is better.
Urbackup client can be laggy some times. I trialed Urbackup but came to the conclusion that while Saltstack is not meant for backups per say, the salt minion agent can be used for many things, and I have trusted it more than Urbackup client which can take some time to see the Urbackup server for some reason and sometimes not at all.
so switched to Saltstack + Robocopy + WinSCP + 7zip + ShadowSpawn to make neat backup on end user machines, which sad to say IMO is much more stable than Urbackup .Urbackup seems to me like it added many functionality and features but never truly tested them in a good way, it just adds and adds so it looks good in paper, but when you deploy in real life.
Also the Urbackup Agent sucks
Veeam tied with Veeam BR is amazing, it just can be costly abit.

One thing that may change things is that Veeam has extended the options for NFR keys for their products. Doesn't change costs for production setups but for labs, this makes the Veeam option even sweeter (for those who didn't already have a NFR key).

I have used Veeam, and it is a solid product. There are misses with it though that centralized systems that can be run from anything make the system lacking.

One of the thing that UrBackup has advantage to Veeam is the Mac Client and the installation of the UrBackup on both Windows and Linux Servers. Veeam does not have that.

I don't think urbackup supports hyperv vss for backing up VMs without downtime. You will need to back up VMs from inside them, as if they are a physical server.
So if you want to back up VMs at the host level, which is a major benefit of virtualization, then you are stuck using a non open source backup solution. If you want free, then you will just have to use the built in Windows Server Backup or hope you are within the limits of the free stuff like Unitrends.
If you have the time to figure out how to get AMANDA to use hyperv vss for example, do share!
