@scottalanmiller Well it was as I thought, firmware bricked the Synology. Not even a reset or using a separate drive to do a pseudo migration of the drives worked. Data is intact but need a new Synology (They will RMA). Glad of their support service with advanced RMA. So it is good. Yesterday was a mess:
1- Friends clicking on Google Drive Emails (Phishing)
2- A Friend got scammed with "HP Support" (Syskey change )
3- Xray machine acting up with Exposures
4- Synology issueAll in all we all survived (They all had backups)

That's why I like the idea of state files. No way NOT to have config backups. It's like texting first.

I haven't heard of state files. Do you mean something like a file that's version controlled through something like Git?

Look at this luldicrous Navigation Pane folder spacing in Outlook 2016. Cant be changed. 2016 Left, 2010 right. Apparently 2013 is the same as 2016. It's like a double spaced word document.
The left side is more touch friendly.
-
@momurda That looks like one of my coworkers Outlook the left side is more calming

Well that's a good place to put a state file and it's good practice to version control them. But a state file is a file that defines the desired "state" of your server or whatever.
