@wirestyle22 said in Looking at Ideas for a Grassless Backyard: @PenguinWrangler I want to go with polished concerete for our kitchen. Looks fantastic. We would like that. Have to totally rebuild the kitchen first, though.

I really like the look of polished concrete. Although I would hardly call that industrial often it just looks like a marble or granite counter top.

Idk if I would do something extremely industrial for the countertop unless I discovered some awesome idea somewhere. Any ideas?

@PenguinWrangler said in Looking at Ideas for a Grassless Backyard: I see a lot of fencing. Which I understand is for privacy, if the fencing is yours have you thought about doing a nice tall hedge instead? I am doing a Privet hedge at my house instead of fence. They can get up to 8' tall. I like looking at a hedge more than a fence. Plus it is cheaper. Hedges are never cheaper. They requires a shitton of maintenance to keep decent. you cannot let them go. or ignore them. And they take a ton of space if not very carefully maintained. I just spent 3 weeks clearing all the fucking scrub from my backyard. I gained over 10 foot of yard in some places.

Things like this make me happy I live where I live. We're looking at 15-20 acres for our next house... 10 ft man.

Mostly I was noting this as a reason the hedges suck donkey balls.

@JaredBusch More maintenance yes, but I can put up a hedge in my yard cheaper than a fence. I don't need a permit to plant a hedge in my yard....I still like looking at a hedge more than a fence.

If I am not working, or learning something new for work. I don't touch technology. I enjoy working in the yard, remolding my house, etc.

We would, actually, like to set something out there up with a projector so that we can do outdoor movies at night.

Although it will be quite some time before we have enough done to make that viable. It needs a LOT of work.

We could get a keg and invite everyone over for a crazy day of backyard renovations, lol.

Those are the best kind of party. If there was a fare sale and I had the time, I'd fly down for one, especially if I had a place to sleep. Hotels can be expensive, even when you have a corporate discount.
