Yup, no GPU needed. Game is from 1998.

Does the $10 version coming out on the 19 include everything I need to play the current/new version or do I need to buy a base game first?

You need to buy the base game. You're in luck though as were heading into Winter Sale season on Steam. So I expect AoE to be significantly less then it is now.

@coliver OK Cool - I rarely look at steam, if someone thinks about it and notices that the base game is on sale, please post about it.

It will be on sale for 2 bucks during the winter sale. That is how much I paid last year for it.

That I could do,.. again - it's not about being cheap... but practical. I just don't play games much.

I'm in exactly the same boat...
If I played it even one hour every other week, that would be a lot. -
AOE is a game we have been playing here for YEARS! We played a game with someone that mentioned I was 14 when I started playing with you guys. He's 28 now. @Mike-Ralston has been playing it since he was 4.

Yup, the "Friday Night Game" turns 14 this year. And some of us were playing pretty heavily before that. The big game that everyone knows started in 2003. But a lot of us were playing at least a year before we had the capacity to play in the big games together. @andyw @dominica and I were definitely playing in 2002 if not earlier.
