** WEB DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER **

The Client is a new software-defined storage application that pools the unused hard disk capacity in a single-office network to create a new virtual drive. We are a fast-growing start-up based in the heart of Manhattan, and will be launching in January 2015.
We’re currently looking for a Web Development Engineer to design and build a web-based management application against an API that allows the configuration and deployment of our new software. As well as developing this new application, the role will involve maintaining and extending existing websites and applications. The ideal candidate is a great designer and multi skilled developer.

TASKS:
• Design and implement web-based interface for managing a networked file-storage application
• Extend and maintain existing Spring Framework E-Commerce Application
• Extend and maintain company website
• Build new products as the company grows

REQUIRED:
• BS degree in CS or equivalent
• 2+ years of development experience
• Ability to produce robust, extensible web applications
• Extensive knowledge of JavaScript and frameworks (MV* and/or jQuery etc)
• Knowledge of HTML5, CSS, and Responsive/Mobile First Design.
• Experience with Amazon Web Services (EC2, ELB, RDS, S3)
• Experience with version control system, preferably git
• Demonstrable web design experience
• Knowledge of Backend MVC frameworks (preferably Spring Web MVC)
• SQL database experience
• Experience integrating with RESTful Web services

PREFERRED:
• Spring Boot
• Experience with MySQL
• Agile development
• WordPress

We are currently looking for an entry level developer to join our team. Initially, this role will be divided between Support and Development, with much potential for growth as we expand. The ideal candidate will have a strong theoretical and practical background in Computer Science. They also need to be comfortable speaking with and providing support to our customers, highly technical Network Administrators.

This is not a basic Tech Support role. The Support Engineer is the most external-facing member of our Development Team. They will have to diagnose and solve real problems for our customers.

TASKS

• Process support tickets and engage with customers to diagnose problems
• Implement solutions in code base when required
• Develop and expand programmatic tests for solved issues
• Contribute to day-to-day development operations

REQUIRED

• B.S. in Computer Science
• Experienced with Java
• Knowledge of layer-2 networks, firewalls and NATs
• Comfortable speaking directly with technical customers
• Able to communicate clearly and professionally in writing

PREFERRED

• Experience in a customer facing role
• IT administration experience
• Tech support experience
• Software engineering experience
