Swimming in the ocean is fun. Much more fun:risk ratio than the very remote danger of getting eaten by a shark. When i lived in Orlando i used to drive out to the public beaches just outside Canaveral multiple times a week. Sometimes even got to watch rockets take off from about 2 miles away.

If you want to get technical about it, you have a higher risk of dying from a pineapple falling on your head than being "attacked" by a shark.

I guess the moral if this little factoid is that pineapple trees are more evil than sharks. Also, don't lounge in the shade of a pineapple tree.

Or just get all of the fruit first.... then you can have a pineapple beverage, and shade.

Of course not. There is that fable about a scorpion and a goat that need to cross a river...
I am saying that out of tens of millions of man beach hours per year, only half a dozen people are attacked. You are more likely to be killed by police, or a lightning bolt in a given year.

Mosquitoes are waaaaay more dangerous than sharks.

You would be absoulutely dumbfounded if you knew how many times sharks swim right next you while you are in the water.

That would be 0 for me, as I'm not adding that risk onto my life.

There are enough things in the world capable of killing me, I don't need to add sharks to the list.

I've seen literally dozens around me every time I'm at Folly Beach near Charleston. Cute little shark buddies!!!

I hate the beach. Not because of sharks but because of the sand. Last time we were at the beach it was spawning? season. There were hundreds of sharks in the water you could see them swimming very close to the shore. It was the coolest thing. They had Florida Wildlife protection people (I don't remember the name) on the beach warning people not to go in as these sharks were super aggressive.

I just wish the salt water in the NW wasnt so damn cold all the time. Puget Sound doesnt even make it to 60 degrees F, ever. The Pacific Ocean is just as cold or colder all year too.

Yeah, definitely avoid the sharks that have erections.

Whenever I'm visiting the family out there I like doing boat tours. You always see people out paddling around on the sound. Even in the middle of summer it's just crazy, fall in and you're in almost instant shock thanks to the cold water.

Yes paddle boarding is great fun. Youre right the water is a huge shock. Especially if youre out when it gets above 90, then you jump in water that is mid 50s, it almost hurts.

It's been the same thing for years, Shark Taggers go out and tow a fake seal behind the boat and record the shark attack.

Sharks are pretty stupid compared to other fish. I am not sure why they are celebrated so much.

Because humans are stupid compared to other mammals?
