Send F11 to iDRAC8
-
This is my first experience with Dell servers and it's been ok so far. I am attempting to install ESXi via iDRAC remote console, however I am being defeated by simple tasks such as key strokes. I have been poking around inside the iDRAC settings and the virtual console settings but there's nothing in there that works.
The "Send all keystrokes..." setting doesn't work and I can't find where to create a "Send F11" Macro.I haven't found anything useful in my Google searches as they all relate to archaic versions. Version 8 seems to be significantly different.

How do I send the F11 key to the iDRAC 8 virtual console?

HP's iLo has two ways to connect ActiveX client or (I think) Java client. Does Dell have this? If so, can you switch to the other method and get F11 functionality?

Google gave me this as the first link
http://www.mysysadmintips.com/windows/servers/467-can-t-send-ctrl-r-to-dell-idrac-consolehe fixed it by making iDrac full screen.

Thanks, I have tried that and no joy.
-
wait, I'll close and relaunch the console...
-
 Good grief. That fixed it.
I think my day is going worse than I thought
-
But at least it is fixed!

I have the iDrac7, and find myself constantly having to reopen the console. It works, but boy is it flaky, IMO.

@Dashrender said in Send F11 to iDRAC8: HP's iLo has two ways to connect ActiveX client or (I think) Java client Which is effectively useless now. So the only way to get to the console is with a Windows machine.

I gave up on the Dell iDRAC console long ago.
