@RamblingBiped might be that they don't have all the info yet - who knows?
I was also being somewhat sarcastic... I also think the link I posted might be dated (May 23rd) and referencing a different incident.
I'm glad I don't use their product...
Ah, missed your sarcasm - you should have used the /s tag

I haven't used them in a bit,.. but I do have it installed on a system or two. I'll have to keep watch on this...
ETA: My hope system is generally off at night,.. But It is now uninstalled.

“I was using a strong password that was unique to TeamViewer and they still got in and cleaned out my bank account. They logged in and used ChromePass to see my passwords stored in Chrome.” says ShatteredAutumn, a Reddit user.

This is why I generally do not store any password for any site in my browser. I feel that even it' is not safe.

The Register is calling them out on Twitter:
https://twitter.com/TheRegister/status/738093006574653440The interaction between the two is entertaining and disturbing... It's been over a half an hour and no response as to why they don't have an updated explanation to the compromised accounts and DNS redirection to China...

i wonder if the team viewer that intigrates with the GFI, now solar winds, MSP package is affected. i dont have a tv login. it auto generates a tvcontrol file from the gfi console. ugh

Have not heard but I bet that it did as the central system would be shared most likely.

I had 2 FA enabled, so I wonder if my account was compromised. If they gained access on TV end, it probably was, if there was a hack of course.

People are reporting being hacked even with 2FA on, which would tend to suggest that.
-
Supposedly wasn't hacked. was just reusing password people had else where that were already stolen.
-
LOL - the oldest trick, well.. you know.
-
I uninstalled Teamviewer from all my systems at home anyway. Their lack of adequate response doesn't necessarily instill faith...

That is the official TV line, but since people with 2FA were compromised it doesn't ring true to me.

But none of the reports are Verified. Just random people posting about it..

I have not seen any posted proof of a hack.
I believe something happened, yes.
I do not know what though.

"Supposedly", but at this point someone is lying... either all the people saying that they were hacked or Teamviewer. It might be either, but there are not directly conflicting statements.

At least one person has a verified online identity, and would have a great deal to lose being outed as lying about a TV breach.

You mean the Twitch streamer named Doug? I clicked through that link to his profile yesterday. Not all that big of a deal with only 100 followers. So how much does he stand to lose?
He did not post anything solid about this, as linked by the article at least. His twitter lists him as a casual streamer. https://twitter.com/goombamunki

And he might even gain more people just from the publicity of it.. so it's a win/win for him.

Reading his twitter feed, everything they lost was because passwords were stored.
I store passwords via LastPass only. I have LastPass set to expire a session 5 minutes after all browsers are closed. The risk there for me is I do often leave a browser session open overnight. I need to change my settings or my habit.
That said, I believe shit happened with TeamViewer. Just specifically what is the issue at hand.
