Well presumably you're only talking about solutions that work at the Hypervisor level.

But there is a myriad of software solutions that are "functional". StorageCraft Shadow Protect will work on any Guest system they support, but not at the hypervisor.

What kind of systems are we talking, how much data?

What kind of restore options do you need?

        @DustinB3403 25 VM's across 3 different datacenters.

        2TB of data.

Here is one product (free) that may work. YMMV.

Doesn't have to be free. We would happily pay for the right product.

Definitely talk to StorageCraft. They do good work. What are they VMs, Windows and Linux?

They don't backup on a hypervisor level?

No, agent based. But using blocks.

I'm a big Veeam enthusiast. Can you detail what you are having issues with and maybe I or another can help you?

@DenisKelley Sure! Thanks for your help! Hotadd isn't working and backups seem to take longer and longer over time.

@DenisKelley I have tested, and hotadd does work, but veeam can't seem to use it 😞

I have been using Veeam since 2013 and it seems once a year I have to rebuild the whole VM again 😞

Maybe show some datacenter/backup config might help. There are a number of reasons why hot add might not work. See here:
                                        https://www.veeam.com/kb1054

I've had one situation like that happen, but it was the backup of the veeam server (vmware) where the proxy was already installed. I'm off to a meeting, but will check back in the AM. Things like what hypervisor, disk version, hypervisor version, backup type (forward vs reverse) and even when version of Veeam will matter.

                                          Mmmm... Minecraft!

So it looks like most of my work is done? StorageCraft is a disk imaging backup solution. We snap VM volumes directly and ship these off to your available storage. A continuous incremental backup takes an initial full and then changes afterwards. Backups are compressed/encrypted and managed centrally and can be replicated locally/offsite for failover and/or archival.

We're known for our Windows agent (same one VMware licensed for VM Converter 3.0) and we've also produced our own Linux imaging driver. Not sure what else to tell you besides we recently picked up $187M in investment funds from TA to help us grow bigger/faster (pretty cool!).

Feel free to ping me if you have any specific questions!

                                          Cheers

Right now we are using Veeam to Backup and Replicate, but I am not all that happy with it.

What other options are there? Last time I looked at Unitrends, they wanted 20K.....

                                            What's wrong with Veeam? Details?
