We do Christmas with Art's family on Christmas eve. Our traditional dinner is Linguini with Clam sauce and Alfredo sauce, broccoli and strawberry short cake for dessert! Then Friday off to spend time with my family and to see a Star Wars!! Then NOTHING!

Little cooking then dinner with family, and time with the kids. More family time and maybe some work in the mist.

Next week it's a little drive through the mountains of West Virginia and more family..maybe more work in the mist....

I assume this is like your fourth time or so?

Currently that would be my third - though if the ability arrises before then I will see it earlier this week as well.

And I now have tickets for the IMAX in Des Moines, one of only 18 theaters to get the 70 MM celluloid version. Real IMAX not Liemax.

I've often been confused about people going to IMAX and seeing things that weren't IMAX. I've never been an IMAX person because of its weird addiction to analogue and 4:3 screen dimensions, but given that IMAX is a film spec and they were always seeing something unrelated to the spec I was very confused. So this is a known scam that theatres run - calling the showing IMAX but then not using IMAX equipment?

Yeah - instead of coming up with a new name for it, the theaters are just transitioning to new digital IMAX, dual 4 K projectors that display and overlapped image.

I'm not one to normally care about IMAX or 3D (frankly can rarely see the 3D effects).

But since SW was shot on 70 mm (according the JJ's tweets), I'd like to see it there.

Plus the giant screen is appealing for a movie like this.

As for 3D, according to some reviews I read this morning, the IMAX digital 3D is the best way to watch 3D, apparently they do a much better job of rendering the 3D than traditional movie options (there was a name but I can't recall it).

Going on a trip before things get too crazy. Hopefully it will be nice and relaxing for the wife.

It all tends to blend in as my parent's house is the place to be on Christmas Eve, lol. Then it follows us home to my house for Christmas day.

We are in Houston for the holiday. It is a pretty intensive thing down here. Everything happens officially on Christmas day itself as they are big on the Santa Claus thing. So we have to do tons of planning and then it is all day gift unwrapping on the big day. I'll post pics. It is epic. Smaller than it has been in years past, but still crazy.
