@Jason So you had to buy a hotel-type remote and now the TV works? or now the manual instructions to unlock it work? It's possible this could come up for someone else and I'm unclear on the solution.

Would be good to get a clear answer, but this was how I read it:
I believe the remote was a service remote, not a hospitality remote.
I would infer then, that this remote successfully brought up the installation screen and he was able to disable the hospitality features on the TV.

Was he also able to disable the horrifying array of hospitality microbes that were included for free in the purchase price of the hospitality TV? Because EWWWWWWWWWW......... the remnants of a thousand childrens' snotty hands all over that TV... nope. Not even for free...
