Windows 10 Setup: Family use (children under 18)

I'm taking my old Dell Latitude e5430 laptop with Windows 10 for my children to use. to keep from making things to complicated, I think just one account should work (other than the ADMIN account).
But when going to create the user account, MS seems to what an email address, and if you don't have one, it wants to create one.
I don't know that I want my kids (9yo, 5yo twins) to have email accounts yet.
What would be the best practice to set this up?

Do you not want them to have email accounts, or you don't want them to have email? I think you are getting lost in looking at the mechanism rather than thinking about what it is - just part of the mechanics of setting up an account. There is a big difference between someone having email and an email address being part of an account structure. Yes, both involve having an account, but the goal and use is what is different.

For me kids, they can have email accounts (they don't but we wouldn't avoid it) we just wouldn't set them up to use them yet. Although even that, I'm not sure why not. Would you let them talk on the phone? Would you let them use the postal service (technical all Americans have a postal account de facto so think about the real world analogue and how it would apply.)

I don't want them to have an account yet. At some point they will need one yes, that isn't the problem
Like a cell phone, IM account, Facebook, Twitter, etc, They don't need that avenue to be reached to reach out from. To much ugliness for them to see still.

Who said see? That's what I'm saying.... I think you are combining the idea of them using the service with them having the service. The two don't necessarily go together. Why would you give them access to the email?

Scott I think gjacobse is asking if it's possible to create a windows 10 account without the requirement for an email account.

That's possible and would be better. But if an email address is required, I think that it is fine. Having one doesn't mean that they get to use it.

my children (5 and 7) have FB accounts, email addresses, and icloud accounts.
I setup gmail addresses when they were born. I then added the icloud thing when apple made the family account stuff. Then I setup a fake FB profile based on their gmail address in order to activate Line Messenger app for them so they can im/chat/voice/video call with friends in Japan.
Then when they were given a computer for christmas I setup the outlook.com family account thing.
Just because they have all of these accounts does not mean they are allowed or even know how to access them.

It is not possible to setup a family account without the microsoft account to tie to it.
