I'm posting in the VMWare forums as well but curious to know why when I move a machine live via vmotion it causes the machine to get a corrupt file system. Usually in /dev/sda1/ on a linux box but has also happened on windows boxes as well.

RE: ZeroTier - are you using it in production?
@Dashrender Yes. We are a school so the professors have a home office where they need access to the network and then also use the OnPrem network as well.
Mapped drives work well on both ZeroTier and LAN. I did have some issues where I had to make changes to the host file but I have removed that since we changed the local domain name to simplify things.

As the title asks, are you using ZeroTier in production?
If yes, please describe your setup.
Is it Windows only, or a mix?
Do you have it deployed to every user device/server/etc, or only some?
Do you have any DNS related issues? If so, how have you solved them?
Do the devices that you've installed it on travel both in and out of office? i.e. the machine ends up on the same LAN as the servers?Production
Windows & 3 Mac users currently - have 3 linux boxes that it will eventually get installed on.
Every device ~ In Office and Mobile users
No longer have DNS issues. Had a few early on but seems to be fixed. -
Windows 10 updates, How are you managing?
With the changes to WSUS and Windows 10 updates how are you managing them from a MSP or maintenance standpoint? I have 40 faculty and staff and would like to still control the updates that get applied until we test in our environment.

RE: If you are new drop in say hello and introduce yourself please!
You know, I don't think I did this.
Jeff from Milwaukee. Been in IT for 11+ years. Started as a help desk guy, went on to work for a few MSP type companies. Settled in to my current gig in April of 2012 as the full time SysAdmin for a school in the metro Milwaukee area. I currently support 120 Students, 35 Faculty and staff, and around 400+ devices.

@scottalanmiller I understand they are not standard business tools. I also look at it that if I can make a kiosk for $75 instead of using a machine that would have cost $200+ I look like a genius
Guess I just gotta learn some Linux commands and figure out how to get them to run if the unit is rebooted. I LOVE BEING AN IT GEEK
Yeah, it's good gear for cheap. But more learning curve.
I'm your Huckleberry.
But does that come at a cost higher than $125 to the company?
Learning is expensive and that's a really cheap way to do it.
But who normally pays for that learning? Good companies allow you to learn on the clock, bit not all projects allow for this.

And there is a difference in learning to learn and learning skills for the business.
While I get that some places would rather pay the $ to get it done right and fast. We are a school and if I can do it for a low cost and get to learn some things in the process then everyone wins in this case.

Possible Linux browser hack
So probably not the best thread title. However, what I need to accomplish is what I view as a hack. I have two Raspberry Pi 3 units that will be serving as a "kiosk" in our library. I do not want the students to be able to get to anything other than our catalog system. I looked at a Linux OS that could do this but when I tried to install it it failed and I really didn't want to attempt it again.
The Pi's are running Canakits running Noobs.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeff

RE: Any hunting or fishing peeps on here?
@MattSpeller I know if I didn't put the boat away the weather would be too cold to get it winterized. Murphy's law sucks.

RE: Any hunting or fishing peeps on here?
The Sunday before Spiceworld was a sad day. I put the boat away for the winter. Sad part of it all is that the weather is still warm enough to go out and get some angling in.

RE: Any hunting or fishing peeps on here?
@IRJ Up here in Wisconsin the Walleye get hopping around dusk. I'll be fishing about an hour or so before and an hour or so after.

I don't hunt, but I am an avid fisherman.
What site do you run?

I'd like to get out more often, but going out with the women is more hassle than it's worth.
(IE I'd want to be out and fishing by sunrise, and we don't leave until noon.....)
I know this too well. If it is just the youngest daughter and we are on the water early. If it's everyone we might as well be planning for a night fish.

Any hunting or fishing peeps on here?
I know it might be a little odd that IT people don't live in their parents basement and play Minecraft, Halo, or D&D when not running networks for the free world. Just wondering if anyone on here gets to the outdoors?
I have been hunting since I was 13 years old (28 years total) but the hunting landscape has changed and people are over hunting areas and the deer are not as easily found like they were before. Just bought a new boat in June so during the warm weather we are on the lakes pulling the kids around on the tube or I am searching for that big Bass, Pike or Muskie.

RE: ZeroTier Outage?
It is almost like the settings just disappeared from my laptop.
I'm still working on the other machines.
