    • HP iLO Alerts?

      just setting iLO AlertMail (iLO4)

I want to receive alerts for disk faults/errors. Do I have to go and tick those alerts anywhere, or does iLO just send alerts about anything and everything?

I know I can send test email messages, but is it possible to send test alert messages??

      Thanks.

@nadnerb I worked for a mob based outside Melb. Sometimes, if you're not located in Melb, you don't always get Cup Day off. In this case, they didn't get that day off, but they did get a day off for their Local Cup.

I lived out of town and they told me I don't get that day off because I don't live in town.

This is the same mob, who all went to an employee's brother's funeral without telling me. I rocked into the office in the afternoon, no one there. I asked where is everyone? I was told they all went to the funeral.

Strange thing was, the bloke (the brother) died in a crash with a loaded B double fuel tanker. I was stopped on the Hwy at the crash heading back to the office. The tanker went up, both trailers.

Top blokes, really great with people ... not.

Hey @siringo, you handling lock down ok?

Not too bad. We live in the bush so all we have to do is wear masks, so it's not really a problem.

The kids are in Melb and are going nutty. Apparently from what they say the mood down there is pretty low. People are becoming rude and angry.

If this goes any longer than it has to, I reckon shit will start hitting fans.

      Queen's Brithday hol I'm guessing??

so I'm putting in some work on the new electrical system for the earth exploration vehicle.
      picked up a 210Ah LifePO4 battery, a 40A MPPT controller and a 40A DC-DC charger.
hooking all that up and mounting it in the rear of the Patrol.
got about 400W of solar panels as well.
planning a trip up to east arnhem land in a few months, provided we can still leave the state.

Inherited an old SBS network which has been upgraded, but is still using the 10.0.0.0 /8 setup.
I was thinking of changing the subnet to /24.

while the old addressing is insane, what's the reason to change? Unless there is a benefit, why? Just reducing the address pool isn't going to buy you anything.

Yes this ^^^ exactly Scott. I'm of the same mind, that's part of why I threw the question out there, I wanted 2nd opinions.

Everything is working fine ATM, why would I want to make an unneccessary change that provided no benefit but could introduce downtime. I susbcribe heavily to the KISS principal, hence my lack of interest in VLANing in this instance.

The only reason I came up with, when thinking about the change is that it may make the environment 'look' more professional by having a more appropriately scoped, network.

Thanks for all the opinions and information it is all greatly appreciated.

      You're conflating VLANs with security.

You need to realize who you are talking to.

@IRJ is probably the most skilled security person on the community.

I know this, and statements like he made give me headaches after having to explain to other people that VLAN does nothing for security if you don't have firewall/access rules as well.

The types of places @IRJ has worked at, I agree that it would be insane to have a flat network.

This is my thoughts - most small businesses don't need/want more complexity than a flat network.

      ^^^ real world.

Then comes the question - does he have the gear needed to do that?

the answer is no, the answer to whether I have the desire or need is also no.

That's a very sad answer IMO

sorry to have disappointed you 😉
