      Hello,

I wish all the best to your children but I wondered this, especially for small kids (I dont have any):

      1. Would you like your kids to be I.T Smart as you and be in the I.T Field ? I actually would hate it, I would want them the farthest thing from I.T so we can leave the house once a while.

What does this have to do with leaving the house? Granted, if your hobby is something on the computer, you're more likely to stay indoors, but it doesn't mean you're relegated to never going outside.

I think this has more to do with exposure to those other things.

      1. Abit related to 1, if you teach them how to be smart in using I.T devices, It is scary for me seeing my brother child seeing all those weird videos supposedly target-ted for children on You-tube and ...

How to use devices doesn't mean you're smart in IT, it just means you learned how to use a device. A person who can make an iPad sing doesn't mean they are an IT Pro.
What weird videos are you talking about? Of course as a parent, it's your job to monitor what your children are viewing. I'm pretty sure YouTube has a child friendly mode for things like this.

how soon kids age of 4 can navigate smart phone or tablet, but how can we combat this? Offline content perhaps, any other good ideas .

What are you trying to combat? Their use of technology? why? It's the world we live in. Should they have more skills than just how to operate a smart phone/tablet, sure, but should you reduce their skill there? I don't think so.

Is there something about your own life you are unhappy with, that you think forcing yourself to do outdoor activities will make you happier? or any non IT activities that will make you happier?

      What about shit like this:
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYDWLuoE-vA
      Youtube Video

For some reason its all the rage for some kinds of kids, they are obsessed with it. The thing is you cant monitor them all the time, btw I heard 2 parents complained over this in Canada and Jordan.

What does that have to do with IT?

I think what he's going at is, how does a parent keep stuff like this away from his children?

Computer goes in the main area of the house where parents can walk by at any time and see what said child is doing (drove my teenager nuts). Also being smarter than said child so that you can search internet history etc.

This is where proxies come into play as well.

Yes until your kid get's better than you at it 🙂

At that point, all you can really do is hope they share a same moral base as you. It's really mostly time to get out of the way then.

      🙂

For the record I think you guys did a really good job....

Hi everybody, just wanted to let everyone know that I am aware of the INSANELY long logout times going on at the moment and actually the fix has already been coded (and it will help with the storage side of things as well). I'm just waiting on my IT department to push to production. I'm not able to get in touch with them at the moment but hopefully it will be soon. Until then please just hold tight!

Tell them that lunch is not allowed... Get back to rowing.

Hahaha, haha. As if they would ever listen to me lol.

    • Sodium App bug

      Hi guys,

I worked through the night on this one and finally it looks like we have app listings working as intended again! Ironically there was nothing wrong with my code in the first place and it was a constraint issue -_- but whatever! I'll take it! Please take a look (make sure your machines are on or else there won't be any new update for you) and what not. Thanks everybody for all the testing, it really makes our lives much easier! Keep letting us know of any bugs you find.

Note: I do know that filesystems aren't fully pulling info at the moment and that is next on my list!

    • RE: Sodium System Status

@manxam said in Sodium System Status:

@QuixoticJeremy, I installed the agent on a Windows 10 system a few days ago but Sodium does not show any information beneath "Applications" for it.

Also, it enumerated the DVD drive (E:) but shows "Not Available" for all of the data. Could you do a quick WMI check on drives to determine if they're ROM and, if empty (isReady = False), show "Empty" or something along those lines?

      [IO.DriveInfo]::GetDrives() | where { $_.DriveType -eq 'CDRom' }

      Name : E:
      DriveType : CDRom
      DriveFormat :
      IsReady : False
      AvailableFreeSpace :
      TotalFreeSpace :
      TotalSize :
      RootDirectory : E:
      VolumeLabel :

Hi @manxam! Thanks for posting/helping us test. Yep, you are 100% right, the applications not showing is indeed a known issue and I'm actually working on it as we speak. (It was reported on Friday but we've had some crisis situations that prevented me from getting to it until now). As for the storage side of things I'm making note of that and will check into that right after I fix the app bug. Thanks again!

Is there any way possible I can search for this? What a horrible name for search engines! I have no idea what Sodium is or does and searching brings up... well, actual sodium... not this.

Is there a website? Is there a better name to search?

Sorry at the moment this is literally still in alpha. We haven't created a front page end point for people to search for yet until it is a more finished project. I also see that @scottalanmiller has already attached a screenshot so I appreciate that!

@scottalanmiller Nice! Can't go wrong with beer and donuts!

That should be a corner store.

      I'd eat there.....daily...

Texas is the land of the corner donut shop. Every corner, city, suburb or village has a local donut place. I bet I can walk to six donut places from my house. And at least three beer shops. And a Taqueria at the end of my street.

But are there any stores that have BOTH in the same place... that's the real question.
