That is just a silly thing to say. PoE and PoE+ require, per the IEEE standard, category 5, but is still allowed to be ran on category 3 for lower wattage workloads.

I haven't installed many PoE+ cameras and have only had those running less than a year. Do you have a number of PoE+ cameras running on CAT5? Longer runs? I'm wondering why the camera company I was dealing made such a big deal about 23 guage CAT6 for their cameras. Maybe because it had a heater?

    • RE: Billing Hour Segments

@brandon220 I've seen it done both ways. I charge the full rate. If I'm sitting in a car I usually can't be working on anything else. On the other had I rarely charge drive time since I focus my business on a particular geographic area.

What if it was one of our computers and it decided to upgrade and we sat down to work and it was sitting there for 2 hours displaying "do not reboot your computer"?

I wonder if the topic is a bit too basic for the core audience. It sounds like it would be great for a SWorld topic, but the MC audience is pretty technical. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's my gut feel on it. Because the audience is pretty small, it leans towards the more technical side of even ML in general.

I was guessing that the ML crowd would be a bit more technical. I didn't know how many people would show up that lean on their MSP to do all that stuff and are technical in other areas.

If it were networking 102, what could I do in an hour session?

In the county where I work most, 40% of jobs are government jobs of some sort. This includes teachers, police, elected officials, etc. That is the population that knows only "spend it or lose it".

    • RE: Install Microsoft Volume Licence application with Office 365

You need the Office 2016 Deployment tool to get a .msi:
      https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49117
You set up a folder on your server, configure the .xlm file, run the command line to download the install, and then run it again with a different switch to install Office on the client.

It's from a team in Helsinki Finland. I bet a bunch of ex-Nokia employees got together on this one. Given how well all my Nokia phones worked, I'm guessing this will be a solid device.

As an outsourced IT Service Provider, we cannot be always available to clients to handle this need in as timely a fashion as needed at times (i.e. the owner says he needs his cat pics screensaver installed now).

The compromise we have come up with is a domain account that is added to the local administrators group in AD.

I'm in the boat and also use group policy to push a local admin account to the machines through group policy. If a machine (esp laptops) decides it doesn't want to log in to the domain, you can just log in with the local account and get it going.

    • RE: MangoCon 2017 Topic Ideas

I think answering a couple of questions would help us decide what we should do for next year. How many more people would have attended if there would have been a training track outline that they could have taken to their boss to get approval for the conference? Where did this years attendees feel they got the most value out of the conference?

Personally, if I had been at my corporate job, I would have had to show a session track to get approval. Myself seeing the @JaredBusch PBX demo answered a lot of questions for me because I have never touched one. The AetherStore/Ware demo was cool too.

So the next question is - how do you decide what classes to put on? What if I want to attend both a class and the panel someone puts on at the same time?

I think after the initial survey of what courses, we should do a survey of registered attendees to see if the courses line up and if there is a track they would want to follow.

Do you mean that your ISP assigned 1 IP for your public interface, and then gave you 5 more public IPs that need to ARP to WAN interface?

    • RE: FreePBX and VoIP presentations

I would like to know what VoIP phones are your go to phones and why.

I have a Yealink T46G and there is a bug that when the screen goes dark the message waiting indicator blinks red. The bug has been there since I got the phone about 6 months ago. I updated the firmware last night. That fixed a problem where every missed call was listed twice, but not the indicator thing.

I can't imagine rolling a bunch of these phones to a client with the bugs this phone has had, but I don't know what a better phone would be.

    • RE: Toilets of the World

@Dashrender Why are they illegal? or why do I like them?
They are illegal because people were worried that if you charged people to use the rest room, they would go in public.

I like the pay toilet in Paris because it actually cleaned it self after each use.

    • QuickBooks install error

I had QuickBooks 2013 installed on a Windows Server 2008 Terminal Server. I tried to install QuickBooks 2015 and I'm getting an error when I try to launch it for the first time. At the end of the "QuickBooks Product Configuration" I get the error "An error occured while attempting to reconfigure your new edition of QuickBooks. You must temporarily return to your previous edition by reinstalling it fom the original CD..."

I tried putting the old version on as it suggested and that didn't help. I also tried removing all the QuickBooks files in various directories to do a clean install. I haven't run msconfig to disable all non microsoft stuff, but I have disabled antivirus.

It doesn't seem to make a difference if I launch the "Install Application on Terminal Server" from control panel.

      Any ideas?

      Text messages...

Before porting my business number to Vitelity, I was using Google Voice. Customers could text me on the Google Voice number and would get the texts and could text them back.

Since porting to Vitelity, I enabled SMS to email. Is there a better way of getting text messages forwarded to my cell phone?
