This stress really isn't work related, but just life related. Somehow, technology has turned into my escape.

People like doing things they are good at. If a guy sucks at golf you won't find him out on the course every Saturday. If he's good at work, he will often bury himself in his work when other parts of his life are difficult.

    • RE: QuickBooks install error

Running as admin. I have been hesitant to call QuickBooks support since running on a terminal server is only support for Enterprise Edition and they have non for profit edition. Also if step one is to reboot the server, I can't do that right now. I guess I'll engage them and see where that goes.

I have always thought Kayaking would be fun/cool to do. Any suggestions for someone that has never done it before?

Never partner with someone that has all new gear. 😉

Lake kayaking is different than white water. There isn't much to lake kayaking. Watch a youtube video for the basics and that's about it. If you roll, you fall out.

White water is different. When you roll falling out doesn't come naturally. You don't have to be able to roll to enjoy it, but getting pummeled by rocks as you lug your boat out isn't much fun. If you can find a class or someone willing to let you play on some flat water to see if you like it, that's a good place to start.

You can also rent what we call a duck. I'm not sure if that is just a local term. It's a personal rubber raft. You can take it down white water and see if you like it. It doesn't lock you in, so if you roll, you don't feel like you're trapped.

    • Windows credential manager

I have a user running Windows 10 and Outlook 2016. He continually gets prompted for his password. I repeatedly tried deleting the entry for it in credential manager and letting it recreate and then tried creating it manually and launching Outlook. Sometimes it creates it with persistence: enterprise and sometimes with persistence: logon session. Has anyone had this issue?

This guy's FIRST post on SW is to go into the SpiceCorps of Syracuse group and post that he wants to start a new meetup - but apparently can't be bothered to attend the existing ones or to post on SW. Seriously? That's your first ever post?

      @thanksajdotcom @Minion-Queen @Mike-Davis

He PMed me as well. I do need to get back in to the swing of organizing the meetings. I think I saw @NetworkNerd had a good idea for one where he called in a local tech recruiter. It looks like tomorrow the snow will be upon us and if I have a vendor coming in that doesn't have to travel that far, that might be the best bet.

    • Lotus Notes

I have a new client that has a Lotus Notes server with a database of archive content. They want to export it out of Lotus Notes in to something else that is currently supported. Does anyone know of any consultants they would recommend for something like this? In my searches, http://www.merlinconnect.com/ keeps coming up, but I filled out their "contact us" form a week ago and haven't heard anything.

    • RE: O365 and encrypted mail to other email systems

The thing I don't like about the third party options is we have been telling our users for years not to click or run stuff inside of emails... This forces them to do that to get their message. In that regard it makes the users less secure because now they are a little more click happy.

LOL, that thread is super weird. And the OP doesn't appear to have responded... quite fishy.

I get the first time posters that ask how to get their laptop to boot and stuff like that. A post about starting a MSP as a first post?

I think they need to start issuing version numbers for the interface. Instructions for tasks have changed because the interface changed and now there is no way to google the current interface.

    • RE: Let's talk security camera options

I've set up Axis and Ubiquiti. I think Axis come in at 4x the cost by the time you add a license to the NVR.

I think the real struggle is going to be not running wires. Chris at Crosstalk solutions did a project where he tried to run a wifi access point via solar power. You would need even more power for the camera. I have no idea how you could do any of that without mounting it...

    • o365 click to run and imaging machines

With my old images, I had Office built in and used the KMS key to license it. What's the current best practice for imaging machines when you switch to o365 click to run from the old volume license versions of Office?
