With Fedora Workstation you can enable the third party repositories. With the option to enable rpm fusion repo for Nvidia drivers.

With Ubuntu, I tried all of that first thing, the game still reported, "No driver found" or "Vulkan drivers need installed". This was after rebooting of course just to rule that question out.

Another issue it kept talking about the Noveau driver being installed so the install can't continue. Found a guide to disable and blacklist that driver, rebooted, installed nvidia driver again, install failed, but completed. Driver shows up under "Proprietary drivers in use", there were three nvidia drivers, game reported with each (after rebooting when switching) that no driver was found for display.

It went from fun and exciting to incredibly frustrating.

Now with Fedora, I did not know how to install the driver through the GUI at all and didn't know that was an option, I followed a recently released guide for installing the driver, switching to level 3 runtime, navigating to the driver, I followed every command and ran the install....Only to get an access denied error. I was running as 'su'...
So I ran the install as my logged in user credentials after rebooting, that worked. (Oh it only worked after running chmod -x on the driver a second time).
driver went through, built DKMS module, but it failed....No specific error, it just said it failed.
Since I blacklisted the Noveau driver already, I'm guessing, switching to runtime 5 did not produce a GUI, so I was stuck with just a command line.

Reinstalled Fedora, downloaded Windows 10 and reinstalled.

I am absolutely willing to try again, but perhaps when I have more time, I spent at least 12 hours trying to get my machine game ready.

Well Saturday was the day, I was going to install Ubuntu and switch over to Linux!
I got my new flash drive in, downloaded Ubuntu, used Rufus to make a bootable drive and off I went.

Ubuntu installed just fine, everything went smooth, 19.04 runs great!
I got steam installed, signed into Firefox (for syncing), Google, downloaded some apps.

Then...I tried to launch a game that was ported over to Linux, Total War Warhammer 2.
The game mentioned my CPU having a governor restricting it. So I followed their guide to enable performance mode, no problem!
Fired up the game again, "Your video card is not supported or drivers are not installed" something like that.
I thought, oh no problem.
Downloaded the Nvidia drivers, followed their instructions, they say just double click to run the file, so I do.

Then, I encounter an error.
I follow a guide to install the driver, encounter another error. Delete all Nvidia everything and started all over, another error...and again...and again.
Errors regarding DKMS (or whatever). At some point the driver was verified as installed, game still threw the warning that no graphics driver is detected. (Also mentioned installing Vulkan drivers after the first error)

So with the Nvidia driver as my default and my anger rising. After 5 hours of trying, I give up.
So I install the LTS 18.04 Ubuntu.
Long story short, I had a much worse time with this version...Driver installed successfully after several guides and hoops, but then I got stuck in 800x600, which I then tried to fix, to no avail.

I then downloaded Fedora and installed it, wiped Ubuntu from the machine.
Several hours later of trying to install Nvidia drivers, no luck.

Back on Windows 10...
Mission Failed.

Me and the wife watched Avengers Endgame. It was ok. Meh.

Disappointing to see Thor go through all the adversity he went through in his movies and other Avengers movies, only to be portrayed as some coward in this last movie.
Captain America being able to pick up Thor's hammer........Absolutely ridiculous. He's the god of thunder and became a washed up drunk gamer.
Not even a huge Thor fan, just think it's silly.
Captain Marvel, she flew through a ship and destroyed it in 5 seconds, ship likely has the diameter of a mile, yet she gets tossed around effortlessly by Thanos...Duuuuuuuuuumb.
Also, how did the gems magically appear in Tony's glove? How did they even fit, that physically doesn't seem possible unless the glove shrank them. I guess since he made the device, he has the ability to take the stones out, I get that, however, Tony and Thanos struggled for all of 5 seconds...The stones just poofed into Tony's glove?
Speaking of Tony, Iron Man, couldn't the Hulk put the glove on and heal Tony? Or perhaps rewind time like Thanos did when he killed Jarvis, he could have prevented his death then.
Speaking of Hulk, why weren't all the super heroes trying to just give the Hulk the glove back? He obviously can handle it, sooooooo...instead of fumbling with the most powerful gems in the universe with enemies all over, get the damned things over to the Hulk!

I suppose it would be boring if Thor just beheads Thanos a second time, but I think I'd prefer it, then they could just be shown fighting that massive army.

Anyway, that's what I watched the other night.

@scottalanmiller Man thinking about RTS games has got me thinking about Empire Earth...Whew that has to be the toughest RTS ever!
Tough, but once you finish a level on the campaign (or if you EVER beat the AI even on the easiest difficulty on a skirmish), you feel AMAZING!

And I apologize to everyone for venting and veering this overall question/topic off the rails.

Right now I'm working on a new project I've been tasked with: Creating several scripts, one for setting default credentials for all IIS Sites, another for setting up application pools, another for websites, another for application setup, another for shared configuration.

Since this project is so simple, I'm thinking about creating a Powershell GUI for the scripts. (and also asking if I can just combine them all...Though I think I'll make them all separate as requested and then just make the one with the GUI)

So finally, after two weeks of literally doing nothing, I have work.

@scottalanmiller I will definitely do this. It's absolutely ridiculous. We have these meetings every two weeks, we'll have our third one supposedly next week.
If they bring up another "mistake" I will absolutely say something. (one example of a mistake, I didn't hit reply all on an email...The email was regarding this script project I just wrapped up and I had a specific question only my boss could answer lol...It's just silliness. I look forward to someday climbing up not having to deal with this sort of micro management like my coworkers.)

That's right ONLYOFFICE uses OOXML (docx, xlsx, pptx) as core formats and is aimed at replacing MS Office. We work with ODF using conversion.

I need to give this a try to see if it could provide a drop in replacement for Office 2016... The last time I tried, OpenOffice - I think - it messed with formatting so badly that management said it wasn't worth the headache of fixing all their files to look good in another product.

OpenOffice was a LONG time ago, LibreOffice split off and has been the leader in that space since 2010. That's basically a decade. LibreOffice for many years has been way, way better at formatting MS Office documents. Still not perfect, but nothing like it used to be in the OpenOffice era.

But being ODT native, using it for MS Office files presents natural challenges. OnlyOffice would be the obvious choice to test out. I'd be very interested to hear how it goes.

The last time I used "Libreoffice" was back when OpenOffice was a thing

I wish I knew. I don't think she likes me, since I started, she actively tries to find any small mistake I make and report it. I've been here three months and they already put me on some, "Coaching 'Program'", which is bullshit, it's just them going over things I supposedly need to work on.
Ok like her and my other supervisor claim I do not work with my teammates enough or communicate with them...not true, I just haven't needed help with a simple little Powershell script...So now I ask my coworkers in an email stupid questions just to satisfy their want for me to collaborate, despite me being tasked soley on this project..."Project".

I mean ffs it's a script, I literally had it done in 6 hours, then they wanted more added on every few days or so. Ridiculous.

Oh and get this, I have nothing to do, Monday I tested the last addition they requested me to add on the script using Fiddler (I installed a super old ISAPI Module that converts the X-Forwarded-For to the Client-IP Column in the IIS logs). But yeah, since Monday, I've been doing nothing.
They said I can't watch videos (despite literally everyone having three monitors with one of them playing a video, but because I'm on probation, I guess I have to follow the rules.)
I'm seldom on my phone, maybe once a half hour (I think that's seldom probably haha), but I've been told I'm on it "Everytime I walk by" according to this same boss, which is absolutely untrue.

So yeah, it's been Spiceworks and Mango lol.
