      @black3dynamite it's impossible if you don't have $200k to.piss away.

This is the Tesla model 3 which is there affordable model.

I thought there was a really long line to get those. And only the standard battery is available anytime soon from what I've read. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have one, but I prefer not having a car payment.

      car payments are the devil

Weeeeeeeeeeell, I mean at least car payments make sense. Now insurance, I think that should be significantly cheaper.
Though then we wouldn't have insurance companies...hrmmmmm

    • RE: The Great Pizza Debate...

Yeaaaaaaaaah I'd just call it pizza, I have never said it's <day of the week> pizza. Now, if somebody asked me when I bought the pizza, if it was on a Thursday............Then regardless of whether or not I ate the pizza the following Wednesday, it'd still be purchased/acquired on Thursday....
Thus I suppose if one names pizza by the day of the week it is, it'd be Thursdays pizza since the pizza was essentially born on that date.

At the moment me and the wife have been playing Diablo 3 RAS. We beat the game together, but now we've both been playin' solo, she wants to beat the game herself and as for me, I love leveling a new character with set gear once they hit 22 and while being paragon 122 πŸ˜„

I used ZipRecruiter. It took me a bit, but finally found something that pays reasonably well. Once you get your information plugged in, applying is really quick and easy. A lot less work than any of the other sites.

      That's my favorite.
Another great one is Indeed. It's simple, easy to use and makes applying easy (when applicable lol)

      @360col Man I love Zendesk.
I'll admit though to hating it in the beginning.
I was so used to Spiceworks and all the # commands, switching over to different # commands drove me nuts!

But yeah, now I'd never go back.

My current org uses ServiceNow, which has the worst UI I have ever seen. There's just too many damned options, so confusing. Though I believe it's customizable, but I'm not sure.
No longer am I running the show, which is a huge relief. Four years of stress added triple that to my age lol.

@scottalanmiller But I don't have a computer! Lol... well I finally do now, but at the time, my 8 year old computer took a dumb. The motherboard decided to harikari itself.
      Well.......darnit I guess I could start getting a new build together piece by piece. Definitely not fixing my dinosaur. What's a DDR2 and a Q9650? Lol...or a GTX 280....

    • RE: What Are You Doing Right Now

And I apologize to everyone for venting and veering this overall question/topic off the rails.

Right now I'm working on a new project I've been tasked with: Creating several scripts, one for setting default credentials for all IIS Sites, another for setting up application pools, another for websites, another for application setup, another for shared configuration.

Since this project is so simple, I'm thinking about creating a Powershell GUI for the scripts. (and also asking if I can just combine them all...Though I think I'll make them all separate as requested and then just make the one with the GUI)

So finally, after two weeks of literally doing nothing, I have work.

I suppose it would be boring if Thor just beheads Thanos a second time, but I think I'd prefer it, then they could just be shown fighting that massive army.

From the first Iron Man movie that ended up kicking off a 10 year journey. And with Avengers, Iron Man 3, AofU, Infinity War and Endgame. It was always about Thanos and Tony Stark. At least that's how I see it.

I'm going to go back and watch all the movies again one of these weekends.

Endgame brought out a lot of "I remember that" moments from me because of the previous films.

It's just been too long for me. I was like, "Who is that dude?" "Wtf are they talking about?"
Lmao..............yeah definitely need to re-watch some movies...

It does when people value the support - and buy that support.. they just get the software for free.

But to become more successful, especially with Microsoft around, they'll need to figure something out.
Hell $5 per month and you get the suite? Lol...something.

That's why the wrk accounts give so many installs. That is the expectation.

      Yeah exactly.
Honestly I see this all as a good thing. Yes in the long run we will be paying more, but there are benefits to it as well.
With one sub, you do get a bevy of features and the five different machines you can install Office on.

You could hop on to any machine in the world and use your Office suite and cloud storage and continue working. (So many ands...need moar coffee)

I also like the quicker updating process too, I can't tell you how many times our users would have a bug while on the deferred track and we'd fix it just by updating. Sure you also get bugs by updating so quickly, but after a few years we stopped seeing game breakers.

I suggest Libreoffice start doing the same thing, launch a subscription platform, the money would be put to good use in development of an even better product. This may seem counter intuitive, but "free" software doesn't get the love and attention as paid products.

Microsoft cuts Office 2019 one-time licenses through Home Use Program

Microsoft's march through subscription land continues apace.
Another one bites the dust. Microsoft has been shifting much of its software to a subscription model, and the latest Office 2019 news heralds another change on that front. The suite of Microsoft programs had been available for purchase as one-off perpetual licenses through the company’s Home Use Program. HUP lets select businesses offer employees discounted rates on the software from their workplaces to use at home. Both Office Professional Plus 2019 and Office Home and Business 2019 have been removed as options for one-off licenses under the program. Instead, HUP will give a 30% discount on annual subscriptions to Office software. Office 365 Personal will run HUP members $48.99 a year, and Office 365 Home will cost them $69.99 annually. The feature sets of the two subscriptions are the same, including premium versions of Microsoft programs, 1TB of OneDrive cloud storage, and OneDrive ransomware detection. The Home version supports up to six people, and Personal is for an individual.

This is going to drive a lot of people away from MS Office.

Naaaah, just a few techie people. They might lose a couple of customers, but I can't imagine this having a big impact.

      Cheeseburger, homemade.
Wife mixed it with porkrinds instead of bread crumbs and mixed in worcheshire sauce. Burgers came out incredible.

I saw a burger recipe that had "bacon paste" added in... basically, chop up some bacon and toss it in a blender or food processor and pastify it. Add to burgers, meatloaf, use as a coating for wings, etc.

      OMG, I've gotta try that!

    • RE: Spec'ing a new computer from Dell or?

@hobbit666 Yeah for light stuff I can see that.
For me, I noticed the difference because I'd have dozens of Chrome tabs open, Server Manager, Remote Desktop Manager...I'm already forgetting...Whatever, several other programs lol. Over 8GB of ram usage. For me, going from the Core 2 duo they gave me at work, to then the i5 SP4 with 8GB of ram to then the 7470, 7480 and 7490 (i7s, 16GB ram) made a huge difference. (Err...not between the latitudes though, those of course felt the same despite the 7470/7480 having the i7 gen 7 proc.
Oh right, actually I went to a better SP5 before switching to the Dells. Went through a ton of machines haha. The Latitudes we got in kept having dock issues, so dell would come out to fix the issues, well I'd give my computer to the person affected, Dell fixed the machine, I'd then use it...then another person would have issues, I'd give my computer, etc.
At the time, Dell had a big waiting list, so getting an additional machine or machines took months.
Annnnnyway, yeah, that's enough morning rambling haha

some of the systems they sell can come with 4-8 GB of RAM and NOT give you an option to add more ram (intentionally) because they removed the slot! So if you want brand new, BE WISE AND READ!

This sort of crap pisses me off.
This and: "Oh you want the i5? Well that only comes with 8GB of RAM sorry, you need to order the i7 to get the 16GB of RAM. Evil laugh ensues (probably)

yeah - I agree with that.

Sadly - sometimes it's due to the fact that they are trying for SUPER thin and SUPER light.. so making things modular costs both thickness and weight.

Yeah I get that, but I'm talking about the same model. A great example is the Latitude series, Dell does this crap with their different builds.
i7 and i5 latitudes are the same shape and size. It's literally the same chassis.

The whole i5/i7 is just a bunch of marketing that creates confusion. There is no real difference between i5 and i7 on mobile CPUs. Usually the i7 can run on a slightly higher clock frequency so it's about 10-15% faster when pushed. Which is not enough for the user to actually notice.

So it's better to take the i5, save a bunch of $$$ and buy memory for that instead. Seeing Dell selling new laptops in 2019 with spinning rust and 4GB RAM - that should be criminal.

Depending on the year it made a huge difference. Mainly hyperthreading and of course the amount of cores.
Imo, having used both extensively, there's a huge difference between an i5 and i7.

I call BS on that because they have all been 2 cores for a long, long time, up until 8th gen. Only the gaming CPUs (end in H/HQ/HK) have been 4 cores.

So the difference you noticed has been psychological or a change of generations or other components in the system, not i5 versus i7.

No. i7 blows the shit out of i5. i5s I THINK barely have hyperthreading as of now starting with Gen 8.
They've always been slower than the i7s and had less cores.
It's like comparing a S-10 to a Silverado and saying the S-10 is just as fast and can haul more. πŸ˜‰

Are you talking about the desktop CPUs? You do know that they are completely different compared to the mobile CPUs right?
      i5 mobile != i5 desktop

      I'm aware lol.
Fuck can't find older systems to show you.
Not all i5s had hyperthreading, I recall looking into ordering machines for our company a couple years ago, the i5s for the laptops were just 4 cores with four threads. Then the i7 had 4 cores with 8 threads.
