At least from what I have seen its almost always bad power. It just takes a little under or a little above the recommended power to get electronics to start messing up. I put in APC units that are power filters and keep the power around 120. Stuff quits breaking and acting weird every time, at least for me. I usually use the $150-200 units from APC.

RE: Windows 1803 Known Issuesposted in IT Discussion
@stuartjordan i had that happen with 1709 also. For me I believe it was a few unresolved updates that was causing it. I have not had that issue yet with 1803 but i have been on top of patching since then.

@black3dynamite I have not done a clean install yet. My vm for images is on 1803 but i have not imaged anything yet. Will report back if I encounter any issues. This update is really annoying.

Windows 1803 Known Issuesposted in IT Discussion
Just wanted to start a topic for known 1803 issues so everyone has one place to go if they find something weird happening on their network.
I'll start. Immediately after the 1803 update on a few Dell optiplex 5050's the Dell printers (b3460 I believe) were just removed. It took a complete reinstall of printers to get us printing transcripts and such things again.

@jaredbusch Yeah that sucks. I hate it when my wife and two sons go places alone because I have to work. I miss them very much when they leave.

@dashrender So what task management software has she used? Evernote and Todoist are pretty darn good and have different styles.

RE: Considering the Issues of Remote IT vs Local On Premises ITposted in IT Careers
@scottalanmiller When I first started my job was probably 80% bench tech and 20% IT. Now I would say it is close to being reversed, maybe 70% It and 30% bench. I spend most of my time powershell remoting, imaging, raiding, and scripting.

RE: Considering the Issues of Remote IT vs Local On Premises ITposted in IT Careers
@dashrender It's the same for me as well. We are around 300 users now and still slightly growing every year. A lot of that is fixing printers, helping with WiFi and showing users how to do things.
I will say, though, that this has lessened considerably the more I automate , keep people on an update schedule, and do regular maintenance. When I first took this position I regularly found computers that had not been updated at all in like 3 years. So things are getting better.

I think ADP is one of the leaders in this category. I don't know about the pricing though.
