Looking for a cheap one, Sub $700. Cheaper the better (for home use) needs to be full depth for rack servers.
What's the best deal out there?

The only configuration those come in are 12x 3.5" or 24x 2.5"
People still use IRC? I haven't used that in so many years.
What network switch is he using?
This is all I did to get mine working on windows 10 http://itthatshouldjustwork.blogspot.com/2015/07/cisco-64-bit-vpn-client-on-windows-10.html
There is not an up to date client, Cisco VPN is EOL'd It was replaced with Cisco AnyConnect

So many buzz words? I mean really "Hyper-Converged" Product in the "Modern Infrastructure" makes the company look like a joke to me.
TechTarget, you mean? They are the ones that named the awards. Their site is pretty atrocious.
Yep. Heck the site has very little actual content.

We only use servers that take 2.5" drives anymore. More density. The backup servers we have Sata drives instead of SAS though, since it's not live data, there's only about 30 VMs bening backuped up to each backup server. Actual servers have no local storage.
Did someone buy this off of alibaba.com? haha

I think http://www.grcooling.com/ have the quietest servers in the world... literally no noise.
I have a large data center at work, I don't need another one to have to manage at home lol.

Not bad. What proc is in there?
2 of these http://ark.intel.com/products/47925/Intel-Xeon-Processor-E5620-12M-Cache-2_40-GHz-5_86-GTs-Intel-QPI
I just decided to pickup a Dell Precision R5500 workstation computer that is Rackmount 12GB RAM $300. Might go for a second.

If you want quiet & server to be in the same sentence look at getting a 3/4/5U monster.
Also means shipping is likely more than the server is worth

I'm thinking some of those cheap "rackable systems" servers on ebay should be easy to make quiet.. the 2U ones.
I had an HP z800 but I sold it and I don't want to spend that much just for a server.
The next server I get will be rackable with an enterprise level RAID card. I'm hoping the next house has a convenient closet that I can turn into a wiring plant/server closet.
My house does but I still don't want it loud.

Since we had the topic for the HP DL360 G5.
What's the best sub $200 server/workstation we can buy (rackmount or tower) that's around the same price and isn't too loud to run in a rack or a room at home?
Virtulazation support is a must (most likely hyper-v again).

Not a bad price. Is this for home? Proliants like this are insanely loud.
What's the best option for quite home ones. is something like an HP z or Dell precision workstations the only good options for something quiet?
Dell tends to be quieter than HP. No perfect option. Workstations can be good choices or custom builds. Or just a really well insulated basement room.
At the price of that HP Proliant DL360 G5 I'm tempted to get one to test, and see if I can just disconnect some of the fans, and wire the RPM sensor together and see how quiet and hot it runs.

@Jason It's still a fact that the memory is no longer made or very rarely made.
That's not the only reason Kingston is just ridiculous prices anyway.

I've had good luck finding older RAM through Axiom at a good price.
Axiom is who we buy all of ours through for new or not. We don't customize the ram in our servers when we order.
