@Jason Naw it's not for spamming. But good feedback that you were concerned for that.

Then remove the requirement for an email address.

      And even company name.

How do you guys handle them? Right now we proactively failover and shutdown them if we know there's likely to be issues anyway rather than let them automatically fail-over after something does happen.

We do both load Balancing and fail over with all of them so it's not a big deal either way, we just do it to prevent any damage from the center being powered up.

This has become by far my favorite RDP software, just bought a copy to use for work. It can do many other things besides RDP (VNC, SSH, Webpages etc). I'd highly recommend it.

Why do so many other companies (mostly small ones) expect us to work with them to fix their issues when they have issues with emails or PDFs that they make are corrupt.

Makes no sense. We already have a job we don't need a second. Sad thing is users actually expect that we'd do this.

OMG I've become a millenial! - I'm listening Youtube vids while working...

I think that most people would say "How can you be a millennial if you are working?"

Though on that point I would say whose fault is it that the millennial generation is like this enough to be stereotyped? The parents and society their parents created.

I'm technically a millennial (though an early one) and I've had a job since I was 14... I know plenty of people both old and young to work the system (welfare etc) just so they don't have to work. It's not restricted to a generation. It's a lazy society.

      https://tools.cisco.com/security/center/content/CiscoSecurityAdvisory/cisco-sa-20160210-asa-ike

A vulnerability in the Internet Key Exchange (IKE) version 1 (v1) and IKE version 2 (v2) code of Cisco ASA Software could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to cause a reload of the affected system or to remotely execute code.

The vulnerability is due to a buffer overflow in the affected code area. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending crafted UDP packets to the affected system. An exploit could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code and obtain full control of the system or to cause a reload of the affected system.

    • RE: Wireless Access Points for Summer Camp

They really should just pick key areas to give coverage.. 25 acres is a lot to cover with any kind of density unless they have a multi-million dollar budget to install, replace/maintain all these APs out in the weather.

What happened to summer camps being unplugged (aside from staff/office use).

      @Dashrender said:

Yeah - it's funny - "drives are cheap, drives are cheap" I hear all the time, and so often, the drive subsystem is 2-3 times the cost of the computational and RAM portions. Drives are definitely not cheap. And good storage arrays are not cheap either.

Drive are cheap. Raid controllers and enclosures aren't.

If it Involves quick books it likely isn't the user. Quickbooks is crap. It's using file structure when you should be using a database. Something like dynamics GP would be way better.

@Jason So that guy saw your post here?

Yeah, sadly they can't post here. Godaddy employees apparently aren't allowed too.

But at least they can read posts here to see when they get called out. Glad they sorted it for you...

Yeah, that's really impressive both that they saw it here and that they took action on it.

Seems like many companies now realize the negative PR shitshow that can ensue on public forums. It's basically the only leverage we have against them at this point.

I mean even, TeamViewer realizes that... okay, they don't.

the problem is if he is just doing what is all too common in IT is making everything cookie cutter, do it once and repeat at each job.

    • RE: Joining/Binding Macs to AD Domain - Should I Bother?

We have a few macs. They are not domain joined. The have local accounts, and are encrypted (preventing single user mode bypass/reset of passwords without damaging files), they just store their AD account in keychain. They have to change their password via RDP. Heck most of their tasks are still done via RDP. The macs they just use for internet and outlook. Pretty dumb if you ask me but Marketing Director seems to like it. Guess he fits in at Starbucks with other marketing folks.
