    • Can't move Stream_Autocomplete.

I have Office 365 installed running Office 2016? (Whatever that means!. Icon says 2016 but splash screen says 365)

We moved from in-house exchange to hosted Exchange 2016.

I need to move the Stream_Autocomplete.... to the new profile.

If I do a regular copy and rename, outlook deletes the file at the next opening and then creates a new file with a new name.

If I use NK2Edit, it complains that it can only ready 16 of the 501 records in the file.

The file is not corrupt, I have confirmed this on the in-house exchange.

Does Outlook 365 handle these Streams differently than they have since 2010?

I'm stumped because this is just too easy in most cases.

    • RE: In-Wall PoE Switch

Just wanted to report back say this little switch was the perfect item for my need. It has been installed for over a month now and I have been very pleased with it. Not that it is doing anything special, it just does its job!

We are using it indoor and we mounted its own little bracket to a single gang wall plate, then installed the wall plate, then attached the switch to its bracket. It makes for a clean install where there once was an ethernet wall jack.

Everything about it is Unifi, so if you are familiar with the Unifi System, this runs like any other Unifi switch.

    • Cron task based on command line tasks.

I always fight with this, and today is no different. I have a command that I run at the command line and it works perfectly. However, I cannot get it to run as a cron job, and don't have any idea where to look for problems (logs) to even begin to troubleshoot. I know I can turn my one liner into a shell script, and cron that, but it has become a challenge for me to figure out how to write complex cron tasks.

Here is what I run at the command line:

      /usr/bin/mysqldump -u root -prootpassword nextcloud > /tmp/nextcloud.sql; sudo 7z a -pencryptionpassword /tmp/nextcloud.7z /tmp/nextcloud.sql /var/www/nextcloud/config/config.php; echo "Today's backup of the My Nextcloud SQL Data is attached." | /usr/bin/mailx -A /tmp/nextcloud.7z -s "Cloud.example.Com Nextcloud SQL Backup" -r "[email protected]" [email protected]

Any helpful ideas from those smarter than me?

Can you post the result of these two reg queries:

      REG QUERY HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\ /v ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin

      REG QUERY HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\ /v ConsentPromptBehaviorUser

I just tried modifying UAC again to never notify. When I go into UAC as my admin account, it is set to never notify. If I go into UAC as the user, it shows as the one just below the top. How does that make sense?

No. It should be system wide. If you set it to never ad admin, it should be never for everyone. Is it on a domain? Is there a GPO stepping on you when logged in as a user?

    • RE: Windows 10 Junction on UNC path

My hunch is that your symlinks are not fully enabled.

Run this on the both sides (your computer running crashplan, and also the server you want your backups to reside on)

      fsutil behavior query SymlinkEvaluation

      You will likely find this:
Local to local symbolic links are enabled.
Local to remote symbolic links are enabled.
Remote to local symbolic links are disabled.
Remote to remote symbolic links are disabled.

The "remote to" are your problem.

      Run this to enable them:

      fsutil behavior set SymlinkEvaluation R2R:1

The quick way through is to just run this on both, but you may wish to run it on your workstation and try the backup, and then run it on your server is it still doesn't work.

If this is a complete failure, I apologize 😉

Edit: R2L at the other end....

Sorry, what's the command line backend?

If you are more familiar with GPO, set a STARTUP script (Not a logon script) (startup and shutdown scripts run with system privileges) to run those two commands: net user and net localgroup, then reboot (or wait for reboot) the PC.

@siringo : If you have teamviewer, why not run this from the command line backend?

      net user adminUserName password

You only have approximately 20 computers so it shouldn't take more than a few minutes.

If you have to create a new admin account :

      net user adminUserName password /add
      net localgroup adaministrators adminUserName /add

      This will do it.

I ran that on one of the remote PCs and yes it did prompt for a password. Was that what you were after?

Did you give it the password? Did it correctly respond with the os?

? How can I find out?

Post the answer to this command from an elevated cmd prompt:

wmic /NODE:"servername or IP Address" /USER:"yourdomain\administrator" OS GET Name

It will prompt you for the password.

Do you know that your domain admin account can login?

    • RE: Change Local Admin Pwd?

No RMM Software? like Screen Connect? (Can always push it via GPO Software Deployment and have full access)

Do you have WMIC access to those PCs?

      Can you remote execute powershell?

Can you set logon scripts with GPO?

The above questions are more about asking if you have confirmed access, not whether your task will work. I can give you commands to do what you want through any of the above means, if you have access.

If the free utilities don't work, you may not have these items enabled:
Remote Admin Through Firewall (netsh firewall set service RemoteAdmin enable)
WMI (netsh firewall add portopening protocol=tcp port=135 name=DCOM_TCP135)

Tell us a little more about how you plan to send commands to those PCs. I know you wanted GPO, but if that is not available, we'll have to find another way.

I've never met a windows PC that couldn't be made managable via remote commands, some are very trying, but all can be overcome.

      Maybe make a bookmark

The problem is when I click links that take me to amazon, like from an article. Sometimes amazon pop ups a reminder to switch to smile, and sometimes it does not.

It's not a big deal on small orders, but yesterday's big order, that didn't go through smile, reminded me that I need to automate this somehow.

Let's back up. What's the goal? What is making you want to do this?

      Smile.Amazon.Com
I am tired of accidentally using www.amazon.com
I know, I know...... but it would make me happy to not have to worry about it. And for those of you who have seen the popup.......... it doesn't always show its face..... 😞
