Most important thing is that it is not NJ.

I only visited NJ and I felt dirty.

@NerdyDad me too. We love fresh herbs. Sage, lavender, rosemary. Rosemary grows great here. I'd love having some big rosemary bushes like we had in Italy.

I think rosemary also repels mosquitoes so yes, definitely worth it. Definitely recommend on getting a programmable watering controller. Something like https://www.orbitonline.com/products/sprinkler-systems/timers/timers/outdoor-wifi-timer/b-hyve-6-station-smart-wifi-sprinkler-timer-v2-2543

      Basil and catnip, too.

Catnip is a controlled substance. Make sure you encase it with 16 gauge or sturdier caging. If you don't, all the cats in your neighborhood will be your best friend.

Yes, I'm aware of the load balancing. It's really neat! I wish this were so simple. I just need fail tolerance, but your idea of location based printing is a great idea, too.

DFS is not like fault tolerance, I think that's the confusion. If you just want HA print serving, use CUPS as the print server and make it HA however you like. Normal OS HA, VM HA, whatever.

      Not using Linux.

    • RE: Printer clustering?

      @Tim_G said in Printer clustering?:

@Grey You can load balance multiple printers, as in a print job will print out of the least busy one. This requires identical printers.

But I don't think that's what you mean, do you?

Select a single printer by name, and it acts like DFS where it prints out to the printer that's in your site? I don't think it can work like that... there's too much guts to it and works completely different.

Yes, I'm aware of the load balancing. It's really neat! I wish this were so simple. I just need fail tolerance, but your idea of location based printing is a great idea, too. I don't think AD supports that unless there is something in Sites & Services that I don't know about.

    • RE: Printer clustering?

The goal here centers around having a single printer be shared exactly like a DFS so any one our print servers can handle the print request and be fail tolerant. The problem I'm trying to solve with that is the result of having single printers (large MFPs) deployed to users through GPOs that rely on a single print server.

@dafyre said in Gaming - What's everyone playing / hosting / looking to play:

I play WoW. I picked it up again when the Wife started playing with some of her other friends. Thing is, as much as I love games like WoW, I still prefer to find other things to do too. If I have nothing better happening, then I'll play WoW (or any game, really), but if the mood fancies me to read for a while, then that's what I do...

WoW is not my life. Come on everybody. With feeling! "WoW is not my life!"

      I can't hear you! (/me checks batteries).

I never got involved with WoW. When it was young, I tried it for their free week and I found it to be a solitary existence in a world full of players.

EverQuest, however, was my thing for about 9 years. I met some RL friends through there which I continue to be friends with even though we don't play EQ any more. We do play Ark, Minecraft and AD&D, though. 😄

I appreciate that Minecraft and Ark help me to maintain my Linux skills, too. Running those two services on an Ubuntu platform helps me keep on top of skills that might otherwise wither and die since my day-to-day is all windows and GPO this, AD that.

I spent a little more than 2 hours last night in Ark trying (and succeeding) to get 2 L shaped sections of a structure to have ramps lead down with a proper concave vertex. Ark doesn't have a great building system and the way it handles clipping is to not, so the vertex, even with the mod, was very trying on my patience.

Tonight, I'm going to work on filling in some gaps around the rest of my area, and maybe rebuild some walls so that they line up evenly.

Sure would be nice if someone like Kelly logged in and helped me to end the boredom by letting me help them to get started, or something. It's boring being alone.

Is it possible to do something like a DFS for printers? Maybe actually use DFS for printers? That would be awesome.

What about Computer Configuaration>Policies>Administrative Templates>Network>Offline Files

Specifically, Prevent use of Offline Files Folder, Allow or Disallow use of the Offline Files feature and Remove "Make Available Offline" command.

I actually enabled that and the workstation I've been using [laptop] as my testbed did not enable the offline files feature as shown, which is weird. Part of the problem is that the previous administrators turned off all offline sync and then enabled folder redirection. Subsequently, laptops were issued and now people are expecting to use their laptops when not on the network. Instead, they're getting blank desktops (no icons), no documents folder and more.
