I understand but I enjoy going to Austin and I have a good friend that I can see so SW is as important to me as the trip itself.
Are you going to MC this year?
Hopefully he makes it out to MC so he can hang with the team that got them their new SANs in place

CANNOT. No time off. Boss would want me to take this as PTO and that bank is empty. I took time in May and now I have to start saving up for my August '18 trip.

At the moment, I'm not a fan of being at work. I want to be home and taking a nap.

To sign into the domain, your VPN goes up first. To sign into the laptop, you sign in cached and then fire up the VPN. There is a reason that VPN-first systems like OpenVPN, Pertino, ZeroTier, etc. are so important. They let you do things like central revocation because they always get updates from AD.
Correct. this is the problem. always.
How does that work when they are on a wifi connection that doesn't connect until after they log in to their laptop?
You said these are surfaces devices, and that makes me presume that they're Windows 10. If you STOP and LOOK at your login screen, you'll see that you can connect to wifi before logging in.
I looked over the thread seeking information on the VPN and didn't see what kind of vpn you're using. Is it MS? Cisco? OpenVPN? Do these VPN tools that you're using allow you to connect at sign-in? If you're using MS VPN, did you consider using DirectAccess?

I don't have a lot in the house, so I'm trying peach vodka (New Amsterdam) and grenadine.
Ouch. Hope you put a squeeze of lemon or lime juice in there to try to balance the hyper-sweetness.
No car and not a lot of stuff in the house. Trying to make due with what I have. I found some old flat Sprite and used that.
Maybe you could use taskrabbit to get some groceries and stuff delivered? Or Uber to the store?

My baby quetzal grew up! 4 hours (ish) to hatch, and 25 hours to grow to an adult. The interactions were about 2 hours apart. Unfortunately, I only got a 35% imprint bonus since I didn't interact every 2 hours.
I need to see about adjusting some server settings as I'd like to be down to a 12 hour growth rate. In any case, I now have momma, poppa and child for battle, speed and weight birds, and they're all about 370th level. Pretty wicked! Is this like that digimon game where you had to keep the digital egg warm until it hatched, and then feed the digital animal etc?
Sort of? There's a lot more to it. There are FPS aspects, riding a tamed dino (while shooting), building a base, harvesting resources (like minecraft), exploration, and there are PvP servers if you care for that.
That actually sounds pretty cool
It's in pre-release. Put it on your steam wishlist and try it out when it's on sale. I run a server and can send you an invite.

He's a web master, so of course SQL Server 2008 R2?
Terms like "the database departed" make this pretty hard to follow.
This is best read if you image the OP as being the All-Powerful Beginning Webmaster, the first of his name, Creator of Databases, Master of Information, and Overseer of Departed Components.

Going fishing Saturday early at Lake Lanier... without a boat, our best bet will be fishing for monster catfish and Alligator Gar around the rocky outcroppings and jetties.
So basically, if we get lucky, there will be fish tacos for all.

Is that a fish? It looks more like a nightmare.

I hatched a Quetzal yesterday and she'll be all grown up by the time I get home. Most likely, she'll also have eaten a complete trough worth of food so I need to fill that up before I take her out hunting and getting some XP.
