RE: My Morning Summed Upposted in Water Closet
It is never good to get to the point that you are stranded without your device. I have 4 different USB power packs;
- PowerADD 7200 mAH SOLAR USB charger
- ativa - MOBIL IT charger
- TimeWarner promotion USB charger
- (2) USB chargers that use 18650 batteries - which I recycled out of 'dead' laptop battery packs.

@scottalanmiller Play Ingress (from Google and Niantic) - it'll kill your battery pretty quickly.

RE: InfoPath: Create Formsposted in IT Discussion
@scottalanmiller
As I am just getting started, it's much like my Sharepoint project... How to get started, is there any point in taking a form created in Excel and importing it? etc.We have a large number of forms that are both WORD, EXCEL or PDF that looking at things and reading what Sharepoint and Infopath are - are best replaced with such.
I am looking at books on Amazon - much like my thread on SharePoint...

readyNAS 312: Pre / Post AD integrationposted in IT Discussion
In light of @scottalanmiller setup and review of the readyNAS 312, I'm curious as to suggestions on:
-
PRE-AD Setup
-
POST-AD Setup
Currently don't have any type of Active Directory, but are in need of a file storage device. Preference would be one that can be turned around and integrated within AD without having to rebuild the whole file / folder structure. But also has some security setups....

RE: Power Management: Color Cordsposted in IT Discussion
Some where along the line- the thought of hospital electrical came to mind. Electrical outlets which are on backup power are colored (red) for easy identification.
While I've not spoke to anyone about it, it seems impractical to have both PSUs plugged into the same UPS, so why not split them and then identify them by color.

@Minion-Queen
Yea - Could go that route. I don't know where the thought came from really,.. But why not? Many use color coded patch cable. -

On a Dual PSU server, has anyone thought of using color coded power cords to manage which PSU is in a battery back up?

I am going to be driving five to six hours to get up to Rochester tonight. But at least I get to relax up there for several days with the family.
Drive carefully. Hope you have your laptop, tablet, etc device with you for support...

If these are desktops - why a SSHD? Other than some performance - what benefit does a desktop get from installing a SSHD?

RE: What's Your Dream Company to Work For?posted in IT Careers
Difficult to say. I fight boredom and repetition fatigue daily, my brain needs more stimulus then a regular office can give. Maybe it's burn out that I'm dealing with... but I want more...
Unlikely I'll ever find it...
