How many people are going? There are only about 100 active ML users worldwide, so I guess there are others going to who don't currently post on here?

RE: How Many Notebooks Do You Use?
Like what? There's nothing stopping @JaredBusch stealing my credit card out of my back pocket, and all he needs is my pin number which he finds super-easy to see. He'll been in Rio drinking tequilas and smoking Cubans before I even know it's missing.

RE: LinkedIn: How Much Do You Use It?
I've found it good to catch-up with people I used to work with. I arranged to go out for a drink recently with a couple of old colleagues that I hadn't seen in over 20 years.

RE: Is the Game really over for some SSD companies?
I've been buying Kingston for work. Not sure if they manufacture or just re-badge?
Plus a few HPs for CAD workstations. Who makes HPs?

So a couple months ago I updated my LinkedIn profile page so that it didn't, well, suck. It was pretty deplorable before but now it's quite good. I have a link to a Youtube video of my presentation at Spiceworld Austin 2013, a scanned in copy of one of my letters from the President's office at Staples and tons of other stuff. It has been working, as far as people noticing. A large number of the job recruiters who contact me find me on LinkedIn. I didn't used to see the value in it but, as of late, I have. Has anyone had any amazing experiences because of it? I actually am focusing on keep it looking good and adding as much as I can to it.
If anyone wants to connect, here's me: https://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=165398934
Connection request sent. I don't use LinkedIn but am interested in any tool that can get me a better job, so need to look into it. I really don't know what @scottalanmiller's beef is. Social networks adapt and evolve. Facebook was originally a way to connect Harvard students together, it's now a way for Coca Cola to advertise to farmers in Namibia. Who cares? If you don't like what's it become why don't you just delete your profile? I don't get it.
As an introvert, social networks really don't appeal to me - business or social. I've never had someone offer me a job on LinkedIn and most of the connection requests I get are from people trying to sell me something, which has no appeal whatsoever.
Any tips on making it work for me would be most appreciated. I guess you need to join a few groups? I joined a virtualisation one, but it was pretty poor compared with the Spiceworks forum, so never bothered with it.

RE: How Many Notebooks Do You Use?
I think I'd be more worried about someone stealing my credit card and pin than my phone and pin. I'm sure it happens, but I've never heard of anyone having their pin stolen - bank card or phone.

RE: How Many Notebooks Do You Use?
By simple, do you mean 4 digit? What's your fear of that?

RE: Sharepoint - how do you use it?
At the moment we use a file share and mostly Excel spreadsheets to record tasks., notes and actions. The only advantage to this approach is its simplicity and the fact that everyone loves files shares and Excel.

RE: Sharepoint - how do you use it?
Trying to decipher @scottalanmiller's iphone auto-correct fails is one of the most fun things to do on ML.
I'm sure you're right about a private HR site and a public one.
What about the project sites? I'm not convinced Sharepoint is even the right tool for project management but I'm determined to give it a go.

I just timed my iPad 2 with BT keyboard and password not code. Took seven seconds.
I'm an iPad2 with pass-code.
Regardless of the time, having to unlock a tablet every time you want to jot down a note in a meeting seems to me to be a complete pain.

RE: How Many Notebooks Do You Use?
Post-it notes are Devil's work. When I become CEO banning them will be my first priority.

RE: How Many Notebooks Do You Use?
Our MDM policies prevent us from turning off auto-lock. Which is a good thing in my case, as I'd only forget to turn it back on after the meeting and would then leave the device on the train on my way home.

Now that I have the Surface pro2 I use that and one note.
The biggest problem I have with using a tablet for note taking in meetings is the lock screen. You go to write something and your tablet has automatically locked itself. So you have to unlock it. Which takes about ten seconds.

How Many Notebooks Do You Use?
I currently have three as I can't decide on the perfect one.
An A4 Muji softback which is great for big diagrams and cheap:
An A6 hardback which is fits nicely in my back pocket - I don't know the brand. Has a handy pen holder. I use this most at the moment
A limited edition A5 hardback Moleskine. Probably my favourite, but doesn't fit in my pocket.
I have to attend a lot of meetings. I don't take many notes but I like to doodle to keep myself awake. I have a Muji Cedar wood pen and pencil.
I tried using an iPad in meetings but got nowhere. Although the ability to doodle in different colours and with different brush sizes was cool, it was a little too obvious what I was doing.
