    • FreePBX / Yealink t42s / call park configuration best practice ...

What's the best practice / recommended way to configure call park keys on a yealink t42s on freePBX?

I initially created a dsskey with a type of "call park" and value of the parking lot extension as a way to park a call and then had a few BLF keys to pickup parked calls. I had a lot of weird behavior under this configuration though. It seemed like a single extension could only park if the lot was empty. It never seemed to be able to park a second call into the next available slot. The display on the yealink would read "a call is already parked in that slot" if I tried to park a second call.

Eventually I stumbled on changing the dsskey from type of "call park" to transfer with a value of the parking lot extension. This worked as I wanted even with multiple pakred calls with the exception that the parking lot slot was not announced to the person putting the call on hold.

I was able to have the parking lot slot announced by going to the t42s configuration page Features->Transfer and changing "Transfer Mode via Dsskey" from blind to attended.

While this is the behavior I want out of the system, unfortunately the FreePBX endpoint manager overwrites the "transfer mode via dsskey" value and sets it back to blind when a configuration is updated.

What is the recommended way to configure call park functionality? Is using the dsskey transfer type functionality the best way to implement or was I doing something wrong with using the "call park" type dsskey?

    • RE: FreePBX assign commercial module to installation?

      @JaredBusch

I think I figured this out. The thing I needed to do was to stop and then start FreePBX.

      I did :

      fwconsole stop
      fwconsole start

When it started back I saw the following as part of the output :

      Updating License Information for xxxxxxxx

where the x's were my deployment ID

I'm thinking this must be where it went out and queried and saw I had purchased those two modules.

Both SysAdmin Pro and the Endpoint Manager screens now look like your samples.

      Thanks for the help.

One question. When you have purchased these through the GUI instead of the portal as I did do you normally have to restart or does it just figure that out and is immediately available?

fwconsole ma listonline | grep "endpoint\|sysadmin"

Jared forgot the \ in front of the pipe. Don't be a Jared.

      [root@CEC-freePBX ~]# fwconsole ma listonline | grep "endpoint\|sysadmin"

      Verify the deployment ID matches.

It shows as completed in the portal and has the correct deployment ID on the order.

Does it not show up here then?

It shows up there, same deployment ID. That's the only place I initially knew to check so I had verified that it was the same as what was on the order, and that has matched all of the other places you've showed me.

Yep they both match. I didn't know about viewing it through the fwconsole command before but I had gone to System Admin->Activation and the same deployment ID shows there as it does on both the places you mentioned.

    • FreePBX assign commercial module to installation?

I've submitted a help request to Sangoma but they haven't got back to me yet and I thought someone may know the answer to this question.

I purchased the endpoint manager and sysadmin pro modules for our FreePBX installation. I tried doing through the upgrade on our server but it kept failing so I logged into the Sangoma portal and purchased from there, which appeared to be successful. I can look on the portal and see that the licenses have been assigned to the correct deployment ID. I figured they would email me an activation code for the modules or something but I haven't received it.

Is there a way to make our installation see that those modules have been purchased for it's deployment ID? Does the FreePBX instance contact a Sangoma server to authenticate the purchase or do I need to input an activation code somewhere?

      Thanks

      Try turning off SecureBoot.

Thanks. I checked and this was off.

I finally booted into gparted and it was throwing some errors that seemed to be because there was no partition table on any of the 4 drives. I added an unformatted partition on each and then then once I rebooted the drives were found by the fedora installer. I presume it would have also been found by the Centos installer at that point as well but I didn't actually try it.

    • Fedora install doesn't see SATA drives ...

I'm new to Linux and have pieced together a system that I was going to use to test with at home. I was going to install Fedora 30 on the machine but when I go through the installer it doesn't see any of the 4 SATA drives in the system.

The bios is detecting them but not the installer. I tried Centos 7 and had the same issue.

The motherboard is an MSI H310I Pro. I had thought that SATA drives would just be seen without any concern about incompatibilities or anything. I feel like there is something simple I'm overlooking. Is there anything that I need to do to make these drives available to the installer?

      Thanks

It will have an ongoing annual cost. The purchase price is $150. The renewal is umm $25 or $30 or something.

Is that new? According to the link on the site it's $149 for a 25 year license.

Sometimes, but not often. I'm not a fan of it. It will work as well as it does with most. But we like to set things that need manual intervention anyway, so the value is low.

Gotcha. I think I may go with it only because this will be our first deployment and I think it will help streamline configuration for us.

For any interested the updated list of supported phones I found here in one giant table and it does list both t27g and t42s as supported by the endpoint manager. Not sure why the Yealink specific wiki page is not more current.

Is there any reason to not consider the t2x series from Yealink? I'm thinking that the t27g and t42s will suit my needs for a FreePBX installation we're doing. The t27g looks to be about 15-20% cheaper. I was concerned though that it may be an older generation that might have performance, call quality or support issues.

It is older and IMO, does have performance issues.

I have not used one in years now, so maybe the newer firmware cleaned that up.

It is my opinion, that they just keep the old models around to sell to people that already have them.

Do you have any reservations about the t42s? What is your default basic business desk use phone for FreePBX installs?

We role out the T42S internally and to customers. We love that model.

      Great, thanks.

Do you generally use the Endpoint Manager or any of the other commercial modules? I was leaning toward the Endpoint Manager but it doesn't explicitly have either the t27g nor the t42s on the list of supported phones found here, but I'm guessing that's just because that page doesn't appear to have been updated in a while:

    • Best source of Ubiquiti equipment ...

I have several ubiquiti AP's and one ER4 that I've bought from Amazon.

I'm looking now at an Edgeswitch 48 and it looks to me like the best price is just to buy from Ubiquiti direct. Does anyone have any other source for ubiquiti equipment?

When I get a chance this afternoon I may configure one and see if that at least resolves the issue, though I didn't think I needed STUN for this particular use case.

So I haven't totally found root cause but it appears to be an issue with my windows profile on the machine I was running Linphone on.

I installed Linphone app on my phone and everything worked perfectly.
Installed desktop app on a spare laptop and everything worked perfectly.
Logged in as different user on original machine and everything worked perfectly.
Logged back in as myself on original machine and no go.

I only need this for some testing. Once we get set up we'll be using Yealink phones so I may not look anymore since I can use my phone for the testing.

Thanks to all for the help.

@BraswellJay what Did you put in the client for SIP server? The FQDN? What does the FQDN resolve as? The internal IP or your public IP?

Did not use the FQDN, just the IP address.

192.168.2.248 is the FreePBX server and 201 is the assigned extension.
