@DustinB3403 Bummer. Well just support them in Spanish. It's not too bad. Will they be using custom apps in Spanish as well?
No no custom apps, but any errors in spanish are a bitch to troubleshoot. (translate.google.com)
Trust me, I know =P
You can do it, but it is a pain in the ass. You start to learn it after time. Not the whole language, but some words
I've had to do support in French, that was tough but you get used to it.
My Facebook randomly changed itself to Portuguese the other day and I realized that I could get by, so I switched it to Spanish and that's what I use now.

what's wrong with Comodo?
Everything. Here is just one example: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/project-zero/issues/detail?id=704&redir=1

Use it as an opportunity to improve your Spanish!
What platforms/operating systems are you needing to maintain? Server/Client mix? I haven't had to deal with remote offices AND a language barrier, but I used to do support for 9 remote offices. We used VNC over a VPN and it worked well. We also did real-time communication over over an Openfire/Spark setup and that kept phone calls to a minimum.
What is the pinch point of this situation that is giving you most grief? Just the language barrier?

Language barrier is one of the worst, I should ask for some training..

Maybe you can do a privately hosted slack server (I can't remember the open source clones at the moment) and encourage bi-lingual employees to use it in an effort to assist in communication there during troubleshooting.

I would think VNC would fit the bill as long as you secure everything properly.

Also, the more effort you openly make toward trying to learn their language will more than likely amass a fair amount of brownie points with the end users you're supporting. That goes a long way at easing frustration created from the language barrier.

This looks super helpful too.

I agree that it would give you brownie points but how much information can you realistically retain?

For learning a language, if you use it regularly, eventually you would be able to speak it fluently without much thought.

So we are now taking over the maintenance for a remote office, as the vendor we have is super expensive and not performing nearly as well as was hoped.
With this a few issues come to light:
- The remote systems are in Spanish - not my strongest language
- The remote systems are at varied degrees of updates etc
- Accessing the systems is difficult at times (remote access)
Looking for some ideas to try and simplify the management / maintenance of these systems.
ThanksHire an IT person who knows both languages. That's what we do.
-
And hire them in the lower cost location! Win/win.
