Yeah, same here.
-
I've never seen a video posted here play full screen.
-
Full screen works fine for me, but I only use FireFox.
-
I only use chrome...
-
The primary reason I use FF is Tree Style Tabs. There are some things that try to accomplish this on Chrome, but none that do it anywhere near as good.

Did you hear the Security Now podcast this week about FF?

About how Steve still uses it because of his lack of RAM on his XP machine? yes..and also how he also likes tree style tabs? yes... how he'll probably move to Chrome, but hate the tree style tabs option available over there.. yeah.

The big takeaway for me was that as much as he loved FF he is leaving it for security reasons.
That's a pretty bold statement.

I didn't take it that way. He's leaving it because it's old and falling behind. But at the same time FF is starting a new browser project much like MS did with making Edge.
What I find so damned funny - Steve Gibson preaches about how good old software is for being more secure because we've had time to beat on it, like his continued use of XP. But if we are to believe @scottalanmiller and that each new version of Windows is an evolution, Steve's continued push against moving to newer Windows versions because they are less secure is really stupid, yet at the same time, Steve is talking about moving to Chrome because it's newer, more modern ... it's just funny if you think about it.

yes, I would say that he fundamentally doesn't understand how software maturity works and totally has no idea about how software gets made. XP isn't getting "honed" over time, it's just left to rot. If it were being regularly patched and maintained, there would be some value to the concept, but it is not. Windows 10 is the latest release that came from XP, not only with more and current patches, but with more than a decade more testing on it, more honing and major components upgrades when more secure ways of dealing with things were invented (or could be handled by the CPU.)

The other thing that made me say "hmmmmmm" this week was that he recommends the built in AV in Windows (which I am not totally against) and that he cleans malware instead of clean installing. (Or at least it seemed that way.) We all know that is a big ML no-no. I was actually going to send him a question about that one.

People use "clean" machines all of the time. A friend of mine runs a local PC repair shop in my hometown and does almost nothing but that.
Personally, I would never trust a compromised machine, but then I also keep real backups. That is something most people do not have and thus the reason they have to clean.

It's not that lots of people don't do it, but there is a big gap between doing it and recommending it as an intentional process.
Instead he should recommend that people take backups, for example.

You kind of went as far to say it was almost negligent, if I remember. Which was one of the reasons I really changed around how I deal with the stuff.
But to hear it from a security guy ... as I said, made me go "hmmmm".

Not saying that he is, just saying they have a large audience of people who DO listen to the show.

My goal today is now to post something you'll comment positively on. I have a pretty bad track record thus far.
Hmmmm, I'll have to think about this one.

I had not tried to watch a video fullscreen in some time, so I do not know when this started.
Using current Chrome
Go here: http://mangolassi.it/topic/131/nsfw-failarmy-week/55
Start a video. It plays fine.
Hit full screen and it attempts to switch then crashes back to the thread with no video playing.same

Well it's a good thing you challenge isn't working the other way because this post made me truly laugh out loud in my office.
