I've got a recent ASUS ROG that I got in December and love it.

Have you had to get any service on it? Which model do you have? I was looking at this one: http://www.amazon.com/G752VT-DH72-Gaming-Discrete-GeForce-Titanium/dp/B01578ZN0Q?psc=1&SubscriptionId=AKIAJM4NKIQGABP2PIRA&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B01578ZN0Q&tag=thewire06-20&ascsubtag=WC25026.

You should know there's nothing comparable to a Mac 🙂

Nope, they're incomparable. And frustrating... 🙂

I've had decent luck with XPS 13's

A 13" is a bit too small for me. I like larger displays and numpads.

I'm kinda partial to the Acer brand, myself. I'm currently running an Acer Aspire v3 something or another... Only thing it doesn't meet is the 256GB SSD drive... (Mine came with 1TB hdd).

TigerDirect is showing their new models, the Predator here... http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=9877502&CatId=3998

Has 128GB SSD and 1TB drive... Meets all your other specs, I think.

                  Intel HD most likely.

That is very comparable to the ASUS. Hmm...so many options.

This Acer will be the second one that I've had, and it is just as good as the last one that I had. And I'm good at torturing hardware, lol.

I would likely buy the SSD aftermarket on anything like this. Just find the one you like with the rest of the specs.

Needs more upvotes, OEM's will scalp you for an SSD

I'm guessing you're not getting an Ultra book because you want a 15" monitor.

One does not imply the other. You can get ultrabook with 15" an larger displays.

They are super rare. The weight limit of ultrabooks makes it tough. I've only seen one and that was several years ago.
