What markup is that that you are using? I've never seen that formatting before.

If you use the image uploading tool, it generates the correct format for you to see. Most people do that and ignore it, though, and don't realize that it tells them how to do it.

Dashrender is using a classic forum formatting.
It was extremely common for a very long time. I even tried it with the same formatting when uploading images wasn't working with the drag and drop functionality.

that's funny - in forums related to Star Wars is where I have spent much of my time in the past, and that's where I used it.
vBulletin uses it for my local Star Wars group (www.centralgarrison.org)
phpBB is the other major place I've used it. -

Plugin author here. I've tested this on nbb 0.9.2, both installing from scratch and upgrading, and it works fine. Ironically, the biggest changes to the plugin were adding a test suite. What problems did you guys have? anything in the error logs?
