Find is cooped by NodeBB
-
Anyone else annoyed that when on ML when you do a CTRL + F you don't get the find command at the browser level, instead NodeBB steals the input and does some sort of search that I have yet to figure out (mainly because I haven't bothered trying).
Mods, please move to correct group.

It's annoying and the NodeBB search sucks.. Horribly.
In chrome you can use the browser page search if you hit CTRL+F twice in a row though
-
It is a setting in your browser settings. I'm trying to upload a picture of the settings but Imgur is down again.

Of course, Chrome has a solution for it.. FF doesn't do that.

When I say "Browser Settings" I mean the Browser Settings section in your NodeBB Account Settings.

I can't even use account settings anymore. The edit link goes to the same url for the Xbyte ad.

It is a bug in Persona. GH Issue is listed in that thread and @julian is aware.

OK found that option and disabled it.
I think it should be off by default. Granted then 99.9% would never know the option was there, but the idea of changing a pre existing option that's been around for well over a decade is frustrating.

The bug is caused by the ad being embedded and the theme not understanding the screen dimensions.
shrink the screen to pop the add to the bottom and the button works. or use th elink as @scottalanmiller provided.

Yes, the use of the theme's sidebar widget is the trigger for the bug.

That took like all day, but there it is.
Disable "In-Topic Searching"

Lot of options being changed/turned on like that. Really tiresome...

It's because of the infinite scroll system. If you turn it off, it doesn't do what is expected either.

OH? In FF, when I CTRL + F I now get FireFox's search.. but yeah, because FF doesn't load the entire thread unless I scroll to the bottom manually, It won't search the whole thread.
Ug, we can't win.

It's because that feature was not designed for single page applications.

Yeah, the feature exists for a good reason. I have it turned off because search suck balls here and I never wanted to let it try to "help" in threads either.
But, no search in a browser works like this feature. It does not matter if you are paginated or infinite scrolled. The browser will search the "page" that it knows about.

Sounds like someone needs to make a better search plugin.
