Everyone is going to somewhere.. Hmm i wish i could go too hahaha
You went to the beach. I get to stay home.. Yeah, I think you won this one. The only thing we may do (that I get to do with everyone) is a weekend trip to Chicago before the girls start school again in the fall.
I am going to beach again.. Hmm i want to live near the beach

I work right by the beach but never go. The view of Queens isn't that exciting.

Yeah . its nice:)
Are those mangrove trees?
Yes
I have never seen them grow along a beach here because its too rough. We have plenty of them in the Lagoons, Bays and other intracoastal waterways.

Where is everyone going in FL? I can let you know some of the good the less known beaches
-
I'm going to Orlando.. no beaches to speak of there.

First of all, I am sorry. I grew up there and would recommend that place to no one.
That being said, you are only an hour away from where I live which is directly east of Orlando. If you go to Cocoa Beach or Cape Canaveral it will be so crowded. Cherie Down Park is in between the two. Only the locals know about it. Its the same beach just less crowded and kind of hidden off the main roads.

I don't mind Orlando. I've been there 8 times in the past 4 years, mostly for touristy stuff. I love how inexpensive hotels are in comparison to say Chicago.
-
If your family likes to bird watch and or kayak. I recommend the Ulumay Wildlife Sanctuary. We get all sorts of species of birds there from different places of the world. You can kayak or hike it. You can also climb up the observatory towers. If you like fishing, there are plenty of places to fish along the trail.
I fish there all the time, Its only 5 minutes from where I live. The fishing is pretty good.

Its alot like Vegas, the tourism industry mandates that hotels and flights to Orlando are cheaper. Disney and other theme parks secretly own many of the hotels.

I would check out Venice beach (which is just north of Sanibel). It is one of the few places you can find shark teeth by combing the beach. They tell you that the shark teeth that are washed up are ancient, but I can tell you that I have never seen more sharks there than I have anywhere else. I remember being a teenager and fishing on the beach one morning with my dad. We would always go out just before sunrise. We started catching sharks left and right as soon as we got there. As the sun started to rise, We saw sharks everywhere. They were so hungry that they were swimming on the beach and flopping back in when the wave came back. I have never seen anything like it before or ever again in my life.
Sharky's is a cool place to bring the family the food there is pretty good (Captain Eddie's is better). Its on a long pier so you get a nice view of the water and the beaches. I recommend Captain Eddie's if you really like seafood. I love that place.

Sadly I won't get to go. Saving my vacation time for a month abroad.
