So I use it, but it pretty much sucks.

Sure its a simple to use interface to keep my common RDP connections.

But it lacks functionality like special key passthrough, unless I go into full screen view. Which often I don't want to do.

      Any recommendations for a replacement?

OH... while the Windows Key might now work, things like Ctrl + ALT + End does work to send a Ctrl + ALT + Del.

Where and how are you using RDP? Is this all for local management? Is this for system management or for end user assistance?

Server administration or more specifically for a few of our VM's which are running server softwares.

The cropped view is and non-special key pass-through often irks me.

                  There is always ScreenConnect.

I use this for internal servers.

It's not used for remote support or the likes. RDP is fine, just the default functionality of RDCM is what gets to me.

What about that product that was linked the other day, TSRoyal, I think?

I won a copy of Goverlan Remote Control from SW. It's pretty sweet, I know I haven't used it to its full capabilities, but the alleged $800 price tag is hard to swallow. It will do RDP, its own remote agent, VNC, Intel pro KVM, Telnet/SSH, or remote command line (very handy).

It may not be remote support, but if you have a remote support tool, why not use it instead?

Since we moved to ScreenConnect, I have never used RDP.

Same here, with SC we stopped using RDP completely.

We used to use LogMeIn, but that had issues with consistently working, and then the price got jacked-up. We moved to Screen Connect, and so far I am liking it. If nothing else, it sure seems to be more stable than LMI was.

More stable and also the connections are so much faster. What takes me five minutes in LMI and often fails takes seconds in SC and does not fail.

Huh - I've never had those issues with LMI.

I'm looking to leave LMI only because I'd like to have all 115 machines on my account. To upgrade Central to support that nearly doubles my current cost.

I'm doing a demo with Citrix for GoToAssist. Their standard fee of $69/a tech a month for 100 unattended and unlimited attended will work for my needs. I almost never log into a user's machine unattended. Yeah the cost will be nearly 50% more than I pay today, but that's better than 100% AND I get the ability to use unlimited attended support connections. Plus they can do screen recording and I can make training videos out of those.

But I'll be looking at other options as well before I finalize on an option.

ScreenConnect is pretty awesome. I stopped using RDP after moving to that as well. Everything in one place and no need to be on a VPN or anything to support laptops or for when I am not in the office.

I use Devolution's Remote Desktop Manager. Very nice and they have a free and paid version.
