MANGOLASSI World/Con/give me a name idea please
-
Mexico can work fine too down south, but many people are fearful of it even though it is extremely safe (in the south.)
Nicaragua is just three hours from Houston and lots of flights in, also the safest place in this part of the world (safer than the US) so very nice there. People are SO friendly here.

So I have to ask this because of where I have been and am currently living....
What would people think of having the conference outside of the US, maybe in a lower cost location where mangoes are common? It would make the name make more sense, mean that the conference could do more exciting things and could be an exciting point of interest for people to get to travel someplace new or different. I know that it is probably loaded with big caveats like people don't have passports, companies won't let them travel outside the US, logistics are tough, etc. But it could mean a bigger conference for less money too. Hotels would be cheaper, food cheaper, support staff cheaper, etc.
Well, you just flew to Central America, how much was it from Texas? If the cost difference between hotels, etc and the flights makes it all wash out within 20-30% difference, I'd do it.

$270 round trip on United direct.

So cheaper than a non stop from Atlanta to Austin.

Or less expensive then flying from upstate NY airports to pretty much anywhere.

Yeah from here it would be about $850 per person to Nicaragua. When I have a team of at least 5 from here that are the main even organizers etc. That aint happening.
-
And as for hotels, are you seeing the pictures in the other thread of my house here? We are paying only $100 more for THAT house for a MONTH than we paid for our hotel room in Austin for four days!!
-
And the $100 more here is the same.... apples to apples, with included parking, maid service, pool service, etc. That's the inclusive price being that much cheaper than a little hotel room in Austin.
-
There must be a website where everyone can put in their home address and it will work out the best place to host it (eg the minimum total number of air miles required to get everyone there). It's probably somewhere like Bermuda.
Assuming you'd want any non North Americans turning up

I picked Feb 3 for flying out... round trip from Omaha to Nicaragua was $850. From Omaha to Houston was $450, and Houston to Nicaragua was $400.
You just got some awesome pricing.

Wow... if I fly out of laGuardia or JFK it would be ~$500 round trip... that is surprising.

Time of year matters. February would be tourist season. The fall is not. Fall is when it is cooler here so people are less likely to fly down to hit the beach.

On United, I am guessing?

Well the first one will be local to me (or semi-local at least). The first time I will be planning anything on this sheer scale so I have to be able to visit the venue and meet with everyone easily. And then get there and do it too. So this 2016 will be in the Niagara Region.

That's Buffalo for the uninitiated.

Oooh... Perfect within easy driving distance for me! That seems to never happen with conferences. Too bad New York is so expensive for this type of thing.

@jenuinecase and I will be looking at a place or 2 in the next couple weeks. Attempting to get something at a Casino to add to the fun factor.

Are you sure that that won't just be a distracting factor?
