Who speaks other languages?
-
Just thinking about different interests that unite us, and wondered if others on here speak multiple languages at all?
It's a field I've always enjoyed, but never gotten very far in. When I was in primary (elementary for the US), I studied Italian, then German in high school, then Spanish since in view of BA.
Then someone introduced me to DuoLingo, but I didn't like their Spanish (I have been studying Latin American Spanish and even that is different from rioplatense), so I have started studying German on there just because it's fun.
Anyone else? -
I was listening to a learning German podcast just today.

I should add, obvs Joyfano etc speak English beside their native language.
I just find it fascinating. -
I took Spanish in high school, the only access to foreign language training that I ever has. I can speak just a little.
Hoping to move to Italy and expose the kids to foreign languages more immersively.

I can limp along in baby talk in Japanese.
I really really need to work on this. My daughters have way too easy of a time keeping a secret right in front of me with their mom.

Are you practicing stealthily so they won't realize the code is broken?

I've picked up some Spanish just from hearing it depending where I am at in FL. The county next to mine is over 70% Hispanic.

I picked up a little more while in Texas.

Since the time that this thread was originally posted, I learned Italian and then Spanish. I've mostly lost the Italian, but I speak Spanish every day now.
