The people did not follow the instructions that clearly stated to secure the unit to the wall and then a Sue and give a company a bad name because they were bad fucking people just pisses me off. Yes sucks kids died I'm sorry I feel for the kids but if you're at fault I own this furniture the instructions have always stated to secure it to the wall.

Are you still alive @JaredBusch ? I generally only think this stuff - but I completely agree.

When I was a kid, nearly everyone I know was beaten at our school by a psychopath and no one reported him and he never got in trouble. Different era. News didn't care, parents didn't look into it, kids with bruises was just part of growing up.

This here is the critical line of the mother hitting and biting her son's who opened the presents early.

The boys' teenage sister alerted authorities after finding them injured and upset.

Which means sister gets beat when mom gets home.... Now hitting the kids with a belt... ok overkill by a bit. But absolutely slap your kids ass when they are being bad.

No punishment for rowdy /unruly children make them spoiled little pricks, who believe they are entitled to everything without consequences.

Did you catch that at least one of the kids was disabled?

I did catch it, but disabled doesn't mean mentally handicap.

The kid could have known better, we don't know as the article doesn't state what kind of handicap the kid has.

                            Maybe it's a gimp foot.

The mom could have known better, too. Seems pretty obvious that these are kids of an abusive family. What they "should have known to do" is probably not relevant. And I know that my wife and her sister would have been those kids at that age (looking at presents, not being beaten.)

@scottalanmiller Of course the mother should've known better than to beat her kids with a belt. I don't disagree.

At the same time, parents should be allowed to spank (not beat) their kids without others getting involved.

Yeah, but there is no spanking here. This is someone who resorted to biting!

Biting is for sure abuse. In my personal opinion, spanking is a tangible consequence of a childs actions before they are able to put themselves in another persons position. With that said, I don't know if I could actually hit my own child. I think that would probably hurt me more than it would hurt or teach them.

Maybe the belt broke on the kids ass... IDK. No point in bruising your hand while beating your kid.... teeth work way faster!

Especially not at seven or nine years old, kids that old are beyond the point where spanking is beneficial under any situation.

I can tell you, I have memories of being spanked and none of them ever made me feel like I had done something wrong or made me improve behaviour, they were indicators that an adult had lost control and were almost always used when they had no explanations for their anger and were just hitting to hit. Be careful with spankings because adults like to say that they deliver a lesson, but don't be so sure that the lesson the kids get is the one that the adult thinks that they are sending.

                                          I think biting is fine...

You can blame it on the other kid, as if the two got into a fight.

That daughter needs to move out, tattling on her mother, shame on her. Time for her to get hers, and then get a damn apartment of her own.

Agreed. My brother was the worst child in the world. I could never write enough about it. The more he was hit the worse he got. It never helped.
