Yeah, I'm totally missing the joke. Where do cavemen have zero latency?

Cavemen have zero latency internet, because they had no internet.

Cavemen have zero latency internet, because they had no internet.
No, that would be infinite latency because anything that they send never arrives. That's the opposite of zero.
I had a suspicion this was a "mistake" joke based on someone confusing zero with zero divided by zero. But I figured I was just missing something. I had immediately thought of that and knew it couldn't be the joke, obviously. I just figured that there was a real joke in there that I had missed. I should not give these things the benefit of the doubt, I suppose.
That's extra not funny, because anything a caveman "has" or "lacks" could apply to anyone. It's like saying "The Internet is fast when your power goes out because there is no Internet." Um, obviously that's not true nor funny, but it's the same joke as the caveman one.
The joke probably "works" if you find someone who doesn't know what latency is, then it feels like lacking one thing must mean lacking another. But once you know what latency is, then lacking the thing creates an infinite amount of it, and therefore isn't funny with any understanding of what was said.
Since latency is based on the round trip time, the simplest form of the joke would go like this (and you can see why it isn't funny)...
John is immobile and cannot move. Therefore he is the fastest person to be able to go to the store and back (because he can't go at all.) Obviously, not funny, because it's obvious that being unable to move isn't in any way funny to act like it's super fast because that's not how jokes work. Latency is exactly the same, except lots of people don't know what latency is, so I guess their brains fill in the meaning with something necessary to make the joke funny (or a joke t all.)

Apparently it went right over my head, too... I thought the same exact thing :man_shrugging:

If I don't read into it, there's no joke, whatsoever. Not even on the surface. Nothing. If I do read into it, I just find that someone was confused.

Yeah... not like I "missed" something, I just assumed since that was obviously the opposite of the joke that that couldn't have been it.

By that reasoning, my grandfather has 0 latency internet as well.... no internet. Does not compute.

Right, or I have it anytime I turn off my computer or unplug the router.
