Unifi cloud controller going the way of home office?

In reading through the UI forums, specifically this gentlemen's post, it does not look promising.

UniFi and EdgeMax are completely different things and always have been.
In the spirit of the exception to prove the rule, the first USG was just a ERL with different firmware/OS. But again, the exception.

UniFi gear is generally still available, with no issues.
The UniFi Controller is a hot pile of shit compared to how it used to be (IMO), but not a horrible solution.
The real failure of the UniFi controller is simply the use case of not sharing the super admin password.

Curious about the Omada ER605v2 router as a replacement to my ERL…

@JaredBusch It is just amazing that the user control isn't adequate. This so easily COULD be a great product for MSP's, but their failure to develop (and even worse, they are removing features) that allow you to administer user control.

@gjacobse I'm setting one up in our lab today and as a basic SMB router with VPN capabilities its OK. Compared to an ER-L I'd probably stick with the EdgeRouter.
