I'm still going to be in line tomorrow morning (assuming i get all of my clients up today) to get my 6 Plus. my provider didn't allow pre-registering...so it's a free-for-all.

@Minion-Queen Hopefully it doesn't try to force it on you. That's one thing I always hate about apple is instead of suggesting words below like other OSes they automatically replace words like "Hey I know what you really meant, even if you didn't" Happened all the time especially with IT acronyms.

I really like the predictive text. Autocorrect is horrible!

Once you get it done you can get an awesome free book in iBooks (this is one of two reasons why I updated my iPad2). "The Way of Kings" by Brandon Sanderson. Epic fantasy done right.

I felt the same way but I am sure it is under the hood. I only have an iPad mini to help troubleshoot problems with other iPads floating around. We are either iPhone/iPad or Windows Phone/Surface here. I updated my mini yesterday but haven't really dug in to see what was difference. Just don't have much use for iOS. Though it intrigues me at times... 🙂

I still prefer swype. Faster, easier, and no stupid autocorrect.

It is certainly not faster and easier for everyone. It is a learned skill and not something that I every liked enough to learn.

Autocorrect is simply predictive text entry without a choice (bad).

@JaredBusch Swype isn't hard. If you can type with both hands on a keyboard, it's no different. For those who don't know the keyboard very well, it's hard. For those who can type 50+ words/minute, it's awesome! I can do it one-handed with my thumb while driving on rare occasions when the situation calls for it. Swype is one of the biggest things that sold me on Android.

It is a learned skill just like typing. It is a skill I think is a waste of time after trying it for a while on android devices. I have no desire to learn it. It is nothing but predictive text with a sliding finger instead of a finger tapping on the letter desired.

                          Because of the upgrade?

It's not predictive. It simply uses the pattern to guess what word you meant. It's pretty accurate too but it gives suggestions as well. It's not really something you have to "learn" that much. You swype in a pattern, going from one letter to the next in the word you want to spell. I'm easily 50 words/minute on Swype, which is saying something for a mobile platform.

but now you still have to go back tomorrow for the 6+, right?

You type pretty fast. You'll like it. It's a different approach, but once you get used to it, which doesn't take long, the one-key-at-a-time feels so archaic...

@technobabble Swype was the example listed in the iOS 8 announcement as WWDC back in June. Everyone who watched knew it was coming.

@ajstringham it IS predictive or it would have no idea how to figure out what you are trying to type by swyping.

I am neutral to the keyboard functionality itself. I tried it, for days. I did not grow used to it. My boss loves it. Different people use devices differently. It is people like @ajstringham that blindly spew about how things are "better" that piss me off.
