But I would have to set up a unifi controller for my ap to be used on my Aloha Network as wireless - For tablets.. Right ?

Your Unifi AP? Yes, it needs a controller. CAN be a controller on your phone.

The AP only needs a controller to be setup, you can turn it off after the AP is configured if you don't need any logging etc.

so I should probably start working on getting a controller set up tonight and going from there.

Question; should this be set up on my Server for the site, or my phone/laptop ?
does it matter though? it's not going with the site this is just for staging.

Most of us use a cloud controller so that it can connect from literally anywhere (with Internet.)

but for my purpose that wouldn't help me.
I only need it to get my tablets set up and connected to the network.
I think that cloud controller would be great if I was trying to set up a full site internet ; however just to get 15 tablets set up I should be fine with a controller on my laptop.. Right?

@WrCombs To ask, why do you have to setup tablets with a WiFi connection? Is there something that has to be done with these on that specific SSID?

What? The controller isn't involved in that.

It is if he needs to setup a new SSID so the end user (client) doesn't have to connect to it.

Not sure why "more work to get less" would ever be beneficial. How you are using it... full site internet or setting up tablets is so wholly unrelated that I'm sure you are picturing what a Unifi controller is all wrong and confused as to what an AP does. But it's so confusing that I can't tell what you are picturing. but your use cases aren't part of any equation about where you host the controller.

Yes, Unifi AP, which needs a controller to be set up. So nothing related to the factors you are mentioning.

Is there a custom Aloha Wireless name that these tablets needs to be connected too before they go on site?

                                      That's what you're asking? I guess I didn't see that.

to load the tablets the way We have to for Aloha - They have to be on the aloha network and apart of the Subnet before they go on site

So the wireless SSID is "aloha", like I asked who knows how long ago.

Where is the gain of them being on this network in advance? Can you not download the apps they need from any wireless network?

Apps are loaded, Terminal configuration is not on these, and the only way to get them up and working prior to leaving the office is to get them on the network.

                                          Does that answer the question?

                                            aloha network

So the wireless SSID is "aloha", like I asked who knows how long ago.

Where is the gain of them being on this network in advance? Can you not download the apps they need from any wireless network?

Apps are loaded, Terminal configuration is not on these, and the only way to get them up and working prior to leaving the office is to get them on the network.

                                            Does that answer the question?

It's a start. Took way to long to get here though.

You're setting up a custom wireless network, so they can just connect at a remote site.

The "terminal" is a red herring. All they need to do is pull an IP address from that SSID.
